Hello to all of you fellow wargamers,
Ever since i came into Warhammer
40k and got to know forgeworld my heart was struck by the Death korps. I have always wanted to have a full apocalypse army of them and over time i slowly began to pursue this ultimate goal. I began to get the miniatures needed bit by bit and over past two years or so i accumulated at least around 150-200 of them. Some i got from other players who were selling them for various reasons: money, the were moving etc... It was a long journey to get them but it was just a mild start. Now the time has come for paints and paintbrush. After long two years of collecting the Kriegsmen the paintbrush has turned upon them. Other of my armies are now put on hold to make room for those grim men from devastated planet that is their homeworld Krieg.
My dream in the long run is to reach 10,000 points. And to of course include a titan of some sort in there. But so far i have to start painting vast ranks of footsloggers who indeed are the backbone of the siege regiment. 10,000 points are maybe too much and there is a big risk i will not be able to make it so i need support to do so. That is the prime reason i am making this blog.
I have some idea about how to fill all those points:
2 Command squads, one of them mounted
a Quartermaster
some Commissars
10 light artillery pieces
approx 30-40 grenadiers
20 engineers
3 full platoons of guardsmen
3 medusa siege guns
Leman russ tank company with 11th tank - commissar one
approx 5 super heavy tanks (at least one of them hopefully macharius)
a titan of some kind
Some of the models i do have, some i dont, plans will probably be changed numerous times as i go.
For my first objective i decided to put first platoon together. It will contain all 6 infantry squads, a command squad, a centaur for them, a commissar and 3 heavy weapons squads (of which one of them i dont have so i will have to cut it for now.) Right now i am about halfway through with command squad and 25 other men painted.
The color scheme i have chosen is very dark (and maybe little blueish) shadow with glossy black helmets. To have some contrast to these dark colours i decided to go with bone coloured gloves and masks and silver shoulder pads. The whole army is set on muddy bases and are quite dirty because of trench warfare in those conditions.
I dont have very good camera as i dont have my own one and i am using my mothers small and not very powerful "vacation pattern" one. I am not very good at taking photos with it but i will try and hopefully get better with it and press the cameras potentional to the max to get the best possible pictures for all of you.
For starts i have taken some pictures of platoon command squad and some group shots of other painted guardsmen:
All feedback and support are highly appreciated. I will not promise regular updates because i have school and other things to do as well and it will be too pushing for me but i will try my best to put up more or less regular (weekly at least) effort to continue my work on this project. To all that are reading this blog, please feel free to suggest improvements and/or leave other comments. If you want additional pictures or anything related to this blog, free to ask. Thank you all very much.
By the way this is my 600th post here so a nice coincidence anniversary
