I've recently seen some Wyrd miniatures, and having worked out that they're part of the Malifaux line, I;m asking my quesiton here - are the large, frequently ornate bases that the figures are always pictured with in catalogues etc actually part of the model as purchased?

Like if I were to buy a Killjoy - Neverborn Mercenary - Outcast, would he come with that ruddy great big chnk of sewer that the figure seems to be standing on in every pic I can find?

...and so on for the other figures I've seen.

I'm not likely to start playing anytime soon, as I barely and rarely play anything at the moment due to work/study/time constraints - I'm just looking out for cool looking figures that will be enjoyable to paint, and may or may not fit in with other models in my collection. A bunch of these have caught my eye, and if they actually come with those cool looking scenic bases, I'll likely buy considerably more than I would otherwise...

while the frequently seen bases do not come for free with the model, quite often you can simply buy the bases in a separate blister for quite a reasonable price.
However some models DO come with little additions.

Also as you're in Melbourne I'm more than happy to run you through a game some time, Malifaux is definitely not an easy system to learn, but it's extremely enjoyable

A few of them do come with scenic bases, these are however the exception to the rule...

Most of the bases pictured were custom made by the studio painter, but wyrd does offer some of them in the form of metal inserts.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll probably still buy a few, but not quite as many as I would if they came with those great bases. 128th King - thanks for hte offer - when I get some time I may well take you up on it - just work and study is kicking my butt right now!

I disagree wholeheartedly. It's a very easy system to learn; it's much more difficult to master. The basics are all very easy though.
