As title says I am looking for the best lord of the rings armies gamewise. Now ive never really played it before (save once or twice) so I dont really know how magic shooting attack etc, work. For Lotr I would prefer a more hero based choppy type army.

Uruk-hai are pretty fun, they can make a hard to break phalanx and their crossbows keep people from staying to far back due to being st 4 and wounding most things pretty easy.
I play wood elfs, and they are a very fragile. They have a high fight and leadership, but very low st and def. But their bows hit on 3+, its like playing marines! If you want to go elfs, i'd go galdriam instead though, higher def.

there was an article in WD an age ago (pun intended  ) which detailed someone taking an all hero army to the Grand Tourney. Apparently it ranked +10 as well if I remember right.
As long as you get the heroes balenced it would be pretty intresting to play

Being a fan of LOTR for yrs and seeing how this army is always out numbered and win every fight I go with Riders of Rohan. But if you like glits and glam run a Gondor force for the classic knight army.

I was looking at rohan. I was thinking Eomer, a riders box and a infanry box is a good start.
