Subject: New Bloodbowl player - How bad are the Werewolve Models! Can you help :)

I'm quite interested in trying the real BB game after how much fun I have had with the pc game..
So, First step - Buy a team! I generally get to play in a GW Battle Bunnker so I have to resist the urge to buy this beautiful team (/love /love ) and instead go with a GW model only one..
So, the actual Necro team from the GW page is ... pretty meh, but ok - but the werewolves.. oh my god the werewolves... So anyone able to reccomend a better model that is official GW to replace? I am cack at modelling / modifying as a warning but I will literally have to hide my head in shame every time I touch the werewolves if I have to use the model they have...

GW really does not have any good Werewolves or bits to make them. I've seen the O&G wolf heads on WoC Marauders, and it works, but IMHO looks worse than the BB ones. LotR Warg heads on Marauders might look better, but that's just a theory I've not seen in practice yet.
Honestly, the best (GW)"Werewolf" I've seen is a Marauder with lots of GS fur along it's back and arms like it's in the process of changing. I'll see if I can lift some pics from the guy who did the conversion.

I'd go with a Chaos Spawn model myself and call it "counts as". No conversion needed and I think you could really make it look like it belongs w/the team more than the current werewolf model does.
You could also go the Rat Ogre route and maybe replace the head/tail w/wolf bits.
I understand both of these options give you a player on a larger base than the werewolf but it's really not that big a deal.

Thanks guys,
My main problem is being fairly new to the hobby (properly anyhow) my modelling skills are poor!
I think i might pick up the werewolf star player model for one and then maybe just suck it up for the second or give a decent try at actually modelling!"

Here is a solution for you.I you said, that you play at a gw but most are relaxed about thrid party Blood Bowl models.Example Chicago Battle Bunker is good about that rule for Blood Bowlers. But here is apik of what use for my Necro were wolves.Impact Minatures man wolf.I likethe fact that he actually looks like his MV 8 fits him.The GW werewolves make great Norse werewolves. Here is the Impact minatures link for him and wow a model for under 5 bucks. http://www.impactminiatures.com/index.php?option=valkyrie_profile&id=VK_V7
Also if you look on ebay you may be able to findWilhelm Chaney model,2nd edition werewolf model. In pik he is the one in front of the impact man wolves. He is a offical gw wolfie.

Reaper makes some really nice werewolf figures that I actually use a shapeshifters for my Norse team. They fit in perfectly once placed on a regular round bloodbowl base. They have a couple as well so that you can have 2 on your team without them looking identical.
The ones I use are:
02747 Jean Paul Duchamps, werewolf ($9.49)
02872 Male Werewofl ($7.99)
See a full selection of their werewolf figs here:
http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/werewolf
They are all much better than that crappy excuse for a werewolf that comes with the necromnantic team.

Yeah that werewolf looks pretty bad, more like a wererabbit if it had long ears.
I'd say the best bang for you buck, and a cool fig would be a rat ogre. They come in the starter set too, so you should be able to get a decent price. It wouldnt look that bad if you file the front teeth a bit maybe?
Folks at a GW store can get kinda "funny" about using non GW figs in their stores. Id hate to see you buy something non GW and get burned cause a red shirt is having a bad day.
Here's another idea if your league is relaxing fig requirements...I run a BB league and Im very relaxed on fig requirements. Coaches just have to number figs to tell which player is which. You could even use plastic $1/bag army men from the Dollar General if you wanted too in my league. Anyway, one of the guys uses the old mage knight/heroclix/horrorclix figs for his Necromatic team and they look great. Just a thought.

The problem here is that the rat ogre is a figure on a 40mm base and the werewolf is not. The werewolf is based on a standard 20mm round base. The rat ogre is just too big for this usage...

I think that one of the cheaper Weres out there to be the Reaper Legendary Encounters prepainted Werewolf. And at $5.99 retail is not too bad. And cheaper than the same metal version. I am sure you could find it cheaper online, add a shoulderpad, and done!
