Where do you guys buy your magnets?

Is there a good online store with fair shipping rates that most people use?

Thanks

I've been recommended http://www.kjmagnetics.com/ by people and they've never steered me wrong since. I've ordered three times from them and they ship fast enough.

For North America, K&J has always been my first choice. I think they're U.S. based, so I'm not sure if there are any complications sending magnets to Canada.

Another for KJ, I recommend signing up for their news letter and waiting for them to drop a coupon code.

Anyone ever ordered from https://www.amazingmagnets.com/?

Shipping seems to be cheaper than K&J (for Canada)

I've used Magcraft before and didn't have any problems.

Magnets are a pretty straightforward product. It's hard to screw them up.

Another vote for KJ from me. Could not tell you if any of the other companies are bad, just never had a reason to stop ordering from KJ.

Is there a difference between magnets grade?

For example:
Those are grade N40 from amazingmagnets.com:
https://www.amazingmagnets.com/show-fractional-d063a.aspx

those are grade N42 from kjmagnetics.com
https://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=D21

Both are same size and about the same price.

Thanks

Yes there is a difference, and no I have no idea what it actually is

I think the N# refers to the attraction between the magnets, but that is just a guess.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Found the explanation of the N number and values over here.

The tl;dr version: Bigger number = stronger magnet.

I too am a loyal customer of KJmagnetics. Never had a reason to try anyone else.

The higher the n number, the stronger the magnet is.

Never buy from Radio Shack. I used to do that before I found K&J and now I am sad when I think how bad they (Radio Shack) ripped me off.

Another satisfied K&J customer, here. There might be cheaper options based on shipping price for Canadian buyers, but don't wrote K&J off, entirely. They have a surplus section that, while normally useless, can yield some absolutely epic deals. Give it a peek every now and again and I'm sure you could not only negate the higher shipping costs to Canada, but save money on top of that (I got 100 of my most frequently used magnets at half price, which basically equated to free shipping, plus a small discount on top of that). Granted, if you're looking to complete a project right now the savings aren't likely worth the wait, but it'll let you stockpile for future projects at a significant savings.
