Hey guys!

I'm wondering, if any of you play both of these games -

- which do you get more opportunities to play?
- which do you enjoy more?
- which do you find more beginner friendly?

I'm kinda dipping my toes in both pools right now

I own a lot of Infinity and play regularly, but also just picked up a crew of Malifaux. The answer to #1 will most likely be whichever you get your area to try out.

While the rules for Malifaux look kinda fun for a beer and prezels type game, I can't fathom anything being better then Infinity.

Beginner friendly I think both will be about on par with each other. Malifaux seems to be more reliant on synergy and tricks, while Infinity is more about positioning and tactics. However I haven't played a game of Malifaux yet so I can't speak to that well.

Not sure if I follow which direction this question is going in... Are you asking which has more opportunity to play within the game system for players or which game system is more readily available to play IE distribution or which game system do players on this forum get to play most?

I'll assume from the second question you meant the latter.

I get opportunities to play Malifaux at my LGS (if I chose too) the most however I like both and would play either more often if I had the time.

Overall I prefer Infinity but Malifaux can be fun and potentially more of a laugh if you don't take your gaming to seriously (which I don't).

- which do you find more beginner friendly?
Infinity rules seem more polished but both systems have some complexities the more you play them and trial the different advanced rules. Both also have starter rules that make them easy to get into. Overall it will be the 'flavour' of the game and maybe the style of the miniatures (big one for me) that will ultimately gauge your preference.

I've played a total of two games of Malifaux and I'm hoping to get in to Infinity shortly.

My preferred store in St. Albert only really covers 40k and Warmachine and I haven't had the time or...the time to try to drum up interest in anything else.

I would say that you should pick up the newer condensed rule book for Malifaux if you haven't played yet. My friend and I found the chopped up layout of the original rulebook slowed down our first two learning games considerably.

I play infinity - but I don't play malifaux (the basic genre vibe of it doesn't work for me). I'm an old cyberpunk roleplayer from the late 80s, so the infinity vibe worked on me like a charm (and the fact the infinity writers are big Masamune Shirow fans also helped).

It gives me other players to play games against. My usual club plays 40k/fantasy with some WM.

If I want to play it, it makes me travel further.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Yeah I basically meant if you play both, which one do you have more opponents for or more chances to play at your LGS

Thanks for the replies so far guys! I'm getting into Infinity so far (have a small Haqqislam force painted) and looking at Malifaux (hoping to get small/new rulebook for birthday).
