Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

So I was going to post on RPG.net or some other site but anyway I am poor so I am playing Baldur's Gate which I have not played in, well, ten years or so. Maybe seven. So basically I am doing something different from the last time I am playing a Sorceror and I am going to, in BG2 at least, bring a second character to be a Rogue as I don't want a mage-rogue I want a "min/ max backstabber" just because, honestly, that is just, nice.

So for example the "Swashbucker" class is crap because they don't get enough attacks. So Fighters cap at five attacks and then with Improved Haste or Whirlwind they go to ten attacks, and, like, kill stuff. So basically I am looking at:

Assassin kit, which is honestly not bad.
Some sort of Human Dual-Class Fighter-Thief probably only going to level 7 as a Fighter or maybe higher if they have CON18 instead of CON16. Probably not a Kensai as they cannot use fancy items although the Berzerker is good too. Now having said that the Kensai might actually be able to use items with Use Any Item, which is not until the expansion and of course BG2 is the meat and potatoes. Level 13 seems a bit high to dual at for just that reason.
I can do a Half-Orc Fighter/ Thief. The Dual Class gets more Fancy Powers in ToB, the HO of course has the option of S19 which is, honestly, very very good. I was thinking something like CON16.
I can also do a Half-Orc Cleric/ Thief as *cough* I am only taking one Cleric in BG2 and, I never thought of this before, they can also take S19. Now this is getting into the attacks problem although there is a spell Clerics get. Basically it is a hard-core Backstabbing character. I also like Half-Orcs because they do not get "too many" skill points, if that makes any sense.
Also I really want to do an Elf for some reason. Of course they get all kinds of fancy abilities including +1 Swords/ Bow.

The party is:
Minsc
Korgan
Viconia
Sorceror
Edwin
This guy.

So basically I just want a cool Backstabber. I consider one Cleric to be a challenge. I remember the last time I played I took Aerie and she was healing herself like every turn anyway, which was stupid to me.

I was also thinking of hacking Valygar somehow to make him some kind of duel. The Sorceror can cast Knock if needed but I need something that can do traps. I was also thinking with a very, very high stealth score I suppose there is no reason they could not stealth in plate armour.

I am not using traps much in ToB honestly I think they are crap, basically.

Kensai can do crazy amounts of damage, especially wielding two katana's, and the fact that you can acquire some REALLY strong katana's throughout the game helps to. but they cant wear armour which is a big disadvantage.. although if you want stealth i believe Kensai have that ability (excuse me if Im wrong).
You made a good choice in playing as a sorcerer to, when i played the series my character was one, and boy did he annihilate. with familiar's and your own.. on second thought, I wont give anything anyway .
anyway, hope the advice helped. enjoy

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Kensai are best used dual clased to Mage.

No armour, no problem you cant weear any anyway.

The Kensai/Mage is very much a cookie cutter choice though, so personally I never played one.

Choosing your companions is more important than choosing your class though.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

Hmm well I am probably going with the Half-Orc just because being able to carry 500lbs is so useful.

I was looking at hacking the (two) characters since we can say they are protagonists and RP-wise Dude there can be like the non-crappy Imoen. I was actually going to give the protagonist character a Katana somehow if that is possible but what I will do maybe, if it is possible, is hack him to be a level 1 Kensai/ X Sorceror. Or maybe level 5 or so. So basically he could use Celestrial Fury + Tensor's or some other combination of crazy battle sorc and go toe-to-toe. I honestly don't know what is possible, using the trainers I have never tried it.

Anyway last time I played I took Jan I do not want Jan again.

But yeah and I dug out my manuals the multi-class gets shafted on their ToB powers but is valuable in the party before that -- and honestly if my BG1 play-through was able to finish in like... < 1 day that would be great anyway. I remember ToB being too easy and Jan is a multi-class himself.

The only other thing to do is make a dual class, maybe using the trainer to make a character that just does traps, like a trap-bot and then switch to Kensai maybe just for fun. But anyway having a backstabbing character will keep the game interesting, tactics-wise.
