Elites - Lictor Brood

Stats, brood size and all existing special rules as in Codex: 'Nids, except remove Deep Strike.

Force them to stay in reserve regardless of mission.

Bump their cost to 90-110 points.

Only allow them to deploy in cover or out of enemy's LOS, and count them as Infiltrators for the purposes of surveyors and auspexes.

Give them either Beasts or Fleet.

Give them a Tyranid equivalent of Polymorphine.

I think that'd really have them fit the fluff a little better - instead of getting shot before being able to strike, they'd pop out of nowhere, stuff some screaming victims down their throat and bugger off to do it again the next turn. An auspex would give their intended victims a chance to ward off the attack, but unsuspecting congo lines of infantry would have their numbers whittled away.

When soldiers think, it's called routing.

I have to say that I don't like it.

I'm a fan of the current Lictor deployment rules, as they make your opponent have to sit and wonder a few turns into the game exactly where the damn things are going to pop-out.

The only thing that sucks about Lictors currently, IMO, is that they are overpriced (like many Tyranid units).

60-65 points would have been much more appropriate for their capabilities.

yakface's 40K rule #1: Although the rules allow you to use modeling to your advantage, how badly do you need to win your toy soldier games?
yakface's 40K rule #2: Friends don't let friends start a MEQ army.
yakface's 40K rule #3: Codex does not ALWAYS trump the rulebook, so please don't say that!

The Hammer

*smacks head*

For some reason I didn't think Lictors could assault the turn they entered play. The things the above rules would do is remove the scatter - Polymorphine is basically super-accurate deep strike - and give then an extra 13"-18" striking distance for moving AND assaulting as normal mixed with beasts. having re-read the codex entry, they don't seem to suck as much as I thought - Ravener (40) + Improved Comms (20) = 60...maybe 20 is a little steep for the ability to assault the turn it arrives.

When soldiers think, it's called routing.
