I was originally going to do haldirs elves, then osgiliath but I like the models for the fountain guard and citadel guard too much. I have recently bought some models off ebay, here is what I have:

1 Boromir with banner of minas tirith
8 Warriors of minas tirith with shield
8 Warriors of minas tirith with shield and spear
8 Warriros of minas tirith with bow
6 Guards of the fountain court
6 Citadel with longbow

So as you can see I have a limited amount of models to work with, so I am trying to put together my best 500pts from this. I am playing dwarves so mobility isn't really an issue, the alternative being uruk hai without cavalry anyway.

I think the best combination I can make is:

Boromir with banner (225)
6 Guard of the fountain court with shield (66)
6 Citadel Guard with longbow (60)
8 Warriors of minas tirith with spear and shield (72)
7 Warriors of minas tirith with shield (56)
2 Warriors of minas tirith with bow (16)

Total 495pts

I'll form two blocks, one consisting of the shield minas tirith and half the spearmen and the other block containing the GotFC with boromir and the remaining spearmen behind. I'll try and hold up their main lines with the first block and push around the side with boromirs. As long as i keep boromirs block slightly behind I should be able to carry the plan out (boromir will be within range to use heroic move if needed). The CG will pick off banners and heroes where possible. If not I'll thin the flanks for boromirs block.

Any thoughts? C&C most appreciated

Another question really, what could I do to improve this list when more funds are available? Would taking boromir out and putting two or three more heroes be more effective? Say faramir in armour, beregond and a standard??

I'm not sure what to do really as Fight 5 GotFC seem too good to give up but my model count is pretty low lol

Its a few months now that they have LotR tactics in it. Beregond is a really good support, and why not do some Knights of Dol Amroth and Imrahil? If you take out Boromir and Osgiliath Veterans, you have place for Knights of Dol Amroth, and together with Imrahil they rule supreme. The problem is, however, that Knights of Dol Amroth are not Minas Thirith.. But for a Gondor army, thats my suggestion

And yes, GotFC are good, but I dont think they are very effective, but they arent bad. If you like them, keep them in.

I think I'll pick up beregond for the future, I like him and I would like some more citadel guard at some point. I don't like dol amroth though, unusual opinion I know but I'm just not a fan even though I know how good they can be

I may pick up WD then for once, I've stopped buying recently seen as it's turned to rubbish recently

I'm planning on having this army at 700pts eventually, I would like beregond and a banner and a few more basic fella's and I am looking at the seige weapons, are they any good? From what I see they tend not hit very often at all.

The bow is a massive killing machine at your siege weapons.
And, Id further suggest cavalry.

This months WD has tactics about infantry blocks, last months had about cavalry, and 2 months ago was monsters.

Yeh I would like include some knights of minas tirith for sure, so I may use my 200pts to the 700pt mark to flesh out that part along with another hero on horseback for hit and run tactics

So a banner, horseys and a hero, sorted

As supporting heroes, Id advise (on foot) either Beregond or Denethor. Beregond is reliable, Denethor risky but can hit hard

Yes, you can use will for that

I second using minas tirith cavalry such as a solid group of 6 or 8 including possibly a cheap hero on horseback to give them a little support in CC after they have charged.
