Hi, welcome to Dakka.

Considering that you have £80 that should be enough to start off with around a 500pt army. What you can do is write an army list of what you think is good using the Chaos Marine codex, and then post it to the 40k army list sub forum. This is where you go to get help on improving your army list. However, I would recommend Rhinos for those squads that you have already mentioned, but I wouldn't spend any of your budget until you have finalised your list.

Hope this helps!

Well, I would firstly do as Rampage says and finalize a preferred list of stuff. If you play your cards right, you may be able to pick up anywhere from 500 - 750 points on ebay, or even looking locally. Trading is a great way to pick up stuff you really want, I've found. If you really want to save money, invest in a HQ, 2 Troops and maybe a Heavy or some Fasts and then build some tanks that'll last awhile. That way you can still play your games, and have nice stuff too.

Anyways, good luck and welcome to Dakka!

Hey guys, thanks for all the advice and introductions.

i would like kharn with a nine man berzerker sqaud, then a 10 man berzerker squad. I then could get bikes raptors or even some plague marines. do you think this would be a good idea or shall i scrap it?

Thanks for the feedback.

Do NOT put Kharn on any squad. His frenzy will screw you over. You wont even get the chance to fight the enemy, cause he'll do it for you! haha

You've got a good CC idea, but you need some fire power. Plague marines might do that, but I'm not familiar with Nurgle stuff. I hate Nurgle haha.

But that loadout should last you a while, till you can afford tanks and more troops and such. FYI dont buy drop pods, use those templates I linked you to. And if you can, get some cheap termies. They are awesome to use. You can pick up 5 or more for 30+ on ebay. The small based ones.
I've got 15 now and I've spent maybe 60$ on them.

hello there, welcome to Dakka!
Since you're on a bit of a budget, I have one thing to say for you: ebay is your friend. Maybe you could get a 500 pt army with what you have, or you could find some (if not most) of those items for less, and use the leftovers for something extra.
Good luck on your army building!

OKAY, for everyone reading this so far, i have now got £200 !!!!!

SO i am happy to say that alot more can go into my army!

Please could anyone post a good list, thanks for your time by the way!

I would like a powerful HQ, not a daemon prince unless everyone says thye are good at what they do.

I would like close combat beasts, khorne berzerkers maybe.

I would like some backup fire and units that can capture objectives, plagues.

I would also like a very few number of tanks. Not really a tank fan, i will get sone for me zerkers though.

i will post a link later when i have my full list sorted, if you can, please pm me its easier ahaha!

Any of your troops are good units to bring.
Your going to want lots of meltas, and rhinos, with each troop choice.
Beserkers should go with a Land Raider so they can assault.
HQ most people bring 2 demon princes with wings and lash.
Heavies you can bring Obliderators , or defilers, Vindicators and Predators are also "ok".

If you want to start out, Buy a Rhino or two, any troops you want(plagues are good). Buy a demon prince. And then buy some kind of heavy support(Probably a defiler) and you can play some low point games.

Kharn is cool and good in some ways. He's one of those HQ's that can do toe-to-toe with almost any CC fighter. But, as I said, he has downsides. Frenzy will kill you, or possibly them, and he will get torn up at a range.

I would get a normal Chaos Lord and a Sorcerer for HQ. You can EASILY scratchbuild a Daemon Prince. Chaos is one of the easier armies to convert to your needs. All else fails, pick up some normal SM and add spikes and/or GS.

Defilers are cool, but i'd pick up a cheap AoBR Dread and deck it out. And do NOT waste money on Obliterators unless they're cheap. Easily made from converting, and lowwwwww point cost. It makes them awesome in an army because of the versatility, but it wont build your force points wise and will leave you less money.

I would shop ebay for "warhammer lots", and pick up alot of cheap stuff. You can get 20 CSM for around 20-30 USD. Find something to make/buy a Chaos Lord, I'd probably go with the Chaos Lord/Sorcerer in Termie armor GW made awhile back. Build up some normal CSM, I'd say 2 squads with wargear options. Then get a dread/defiler. From there just add piece by piece.

If you want, shop around the "Swap Shop" or even find a full army on Ebay. You never know what you can pick up, just be sure to study BEFORE you buy.

EDIT: Oh, a lesson I learned is get some Daemons. You can make some WHFB Beastmen into Bloodletters EASY. Just paint them red! Works great, real cheap.

Good luck!
