Going to a multi-point (2 day - 5 Games Tourney)

Now the 2000points rules (2 last games of the weekend), allow you to take any a "Single Spearhead unit" or an "Apocalypse Unit".

Not having alot of FW stuff or Super Heavies in SM force, I am looking at the feasibility of using a "Suppression Force". With 2 x WHIRLWINDS and using a LANDSPEEDER( possibly a LSS as it doesn't say I cannot?).

So my Questions are :-

1. Can I field a LSS in a Supression force? Or does it need to be a full Landspeeder?
2. Can I use the following tactic :-

Drop in a Drop-Pod turn one,(equipped with a locator beacon). When my Deep Strike roll comes in, carefully bring down and place the "Spotter Landspeeder" within 6" of the Drop-Pod (Maybe using the Drop Pod for a cover save) and using the Speeder to get eyes on and slam the unit of choice (in LOS) with a the unlimited range shots (e.g Hide the Whirlwinds, and fire indirectly) e.g Spotting on the turn I arrive from Deep Strike?

I think this maybe a cheap and useful APOC unit without hemaeroging Points. I would like a Predator Spear Head unit, but I lack 2nd Predator at the moment.

That is perfectly legitimate. Not sure of your other model choices, but it will work well. Just make sure the land speeder is not unsupported or it will die fast!

I cannot have multiple spotters? Although I could drop a squadron of 2 or 3 LS in as a meat shield and for mutual support?

Huh? Not sure what you meant by the first statement. You could drop a squadron in as a meat shield, yes.

I mean I can only have one Landspeeder, It would be great if I could have a whole squadron as spotters rather than a single Land Speeder (this is the achilles heel of this unit, one penetrating hit, and the whole unit is useless!).
