This past Sunday we just had our FLGS Tanksgiving event for flames of war.

We had 2 tables: 1 for Europe and 1 for North Africa.

On the European table we had 3 German companies on one side and 1 polish, 2 French, and 1 Russian comany on the other.

On the desert table we had 1 Italian and 1 German company on one side and 3 British companies on the other.

In europe by the end of the battle one german and the polish company had been wiped out. A second german company was close to being wiped out and the russians were down to only 2 tanks left without a platoon commander or company commander so they couldn't move for the last half of the battle.

In Africa by the end of the battle the german company was down to the company commander in a PZIII, 1 PZII and 1 SDKFZ 231 armored car. The Italians were down to a unit of artillery and a unit of AA guns. 1 of the 3 british companies had been wiped out and the others had taken some damage.

Most telling was the objectives, though. The Axis in Europe were very solidly focused on objectives, as were the British in Africa. The overall score was 116-113 in the Allies favor, and given that the Axis were outnumbered by 3000 points is a testament to how hard to Axis players fought.

All in all it was an awesome day and it was great to see 7500 points on one table and 10500 points on the other! We are already discussing a spring MW massive tank battle following similar rules. Last year's Tanksgiving was LW and those of us who didn't play Germans or Russians were completely outclassed in the game and it ended up not being as fun for us. There were some infantry tanks in the desert for EW this year, but the Italian artillery and naval guns took them to task just fine destroying multiple valenties and Matilda IIs. Probably would have destroyed more of them if it weren't for the titanium plated honey stuart platoon that charged forward to grab a mid table objective and then proceeded to hold it with minimal damage from 4 turns of fire from guns and multiple platoons of M13/40 tanks. They kept getting bailed on the axis turn and right back in on the allied turn.

Anyone else do a local Tanksgiving event??

Well, my FLGS's FoW event is coming up this Friday, calling for a 2500-pt Late-war Tank Company. I'm planning on running a Lehr company with Panthers and Panzer IV's:

Also, I am running the 40k Tanksgiving event scheduled for this Saturday, so it is going to be a busy few days for me!

Just got home from the FoW Tanksgiving event! I wound up playing 2 games, one against the British (which I won) and another against the Soviets (that I lost). Here are a couple of shots:
