Just curious, what is with the specific restrictions? Is it for a intro game or gaming group? Just wondering

The List first off i assume you mean the Knight of Umbar, why not the betrayer? He is better point for point

If i were you i would take both of your morrannon blocks at 6 companies, they're a real pain to deal with, i personally dont like Mordor Uruk-hai, if i were you i would take a big block (8 companies with a captain) of Warg Riders for the same points. Castellans are awesome, really tough but i find without a hero with overlord they are to slow...also, they dont put out enough damage, the are however a great distraction, as people see them and freak out

I'm not a huge troll fan, i prefer Siege Bows, but thats just me if i were you my list would look like this...

Betrayer 125pts

6 Companies of Morannon Orcs
Shields
Captain
200pts

6 Companies of Morannon Orcs
Shields
Captain
200pts

8 Companies Warg Riders
Shields
Captain
250pts

2 Mordor Siege Bows
100pts

2 Mordor Siege Bows
100pts

Hi, in answer to your question, we are doing a campaign, and we are not allowed to duplicate any Epic Heroes (and a couple of specific guys like the Balrog). So, in order to use an Epic, you have to draft him, and all of the characters he listed are taken.

Siege bows are great, but there's also a player who takes all horse Rohan. Against them, Trolls are kind of magic

I'm kind of curious as to why you're taking Umbar, as well. Which one is he?

As far as the rest of your list, I would also drop the Uruk-hai. I just think the Morannons are better. Bump both units to 5c with a Captain, keep the castellans (because they are awesome when they hit things), but maybe only one company...and then add the Warg riders. Those guys are awesome. Give them shields. Possibly a banner if you can swing it.

The Knight of Umbar is the one that can copy the Fight or Strength of another enemy hero(or unit?).

I think the Uruks look nice because they have the two handed weapons at S4, they have C3(4 with captain/shaman) and they are Stalwart. So with the shaman, they Wings and AtD into your face(or flank ), you can't pewpew push them back with arrows, and they hit like a load of bricks.

I do like my MM Wargs though.

OHHH...you're putting Umbar in with the Uruks? They're only D4. I wouldn't do that. Also, if you steal their fight, you still are -1 because of the 2HW. I would still drop them for bigger units of Morannons that just won't go away (with a cpt in each). Also, I would never want to put a RW in a unit that doesn't have a CPT. You want at least a chance of not getting dueled to death...but that's just me.

I wasn't going to put the RW in the Uruks. He'd go with Morannons and Strength from Corruption an enemy unit, then Pall of Night them(if necessary), and then steal their boosted strength. Bam, two fast beatsticks in the first wave.

The troll was to hang out with the Castellans in the second wave so they don't get 'cavalrylolchargeheroicfight*'ed away.

*Patent Pending

When fighting Rohan, i find Siege bows awesome, because they field big units and have such low defence. If you want to rock to troll, i suggest drop one company of castellans, take 2 siege bows, with the remaining points bump up the morannons a little...your plan with the Uruks is nice, i just dont see them earning their points...

BUT to each his own play how you want

There you go, I like your middle-ground approach there, Box.

I played against a Rohan Player with approximatly the following list:

Theoden(with +3 Might from Galadriel's Blessing)
5c Royal Knights with Capt and Banner
5c Riders with Capt
5c Riders with Capt
6c Oathsworn Militia
3c Oathsworn Militia with Bows

I used:

The Knight of Umbar on a Fellbeast
5c Morannon Orcs with Shields, Capt, and Drummer
5c Morannon Orcs with Shields and Capt
2c Castellans of Dol Guldur
3c Orc Trackers
Black-hearted trees

EDIT: I also had 5c Gundabad Blackshields+Capt in allies because of the location of the battle for the campaign.

My army got totally decimated because of some bad rolls on my part and good tactics on his part(and buring 3 might to get a 6 on the hard to kill table ), but I won the game because the mission was High Ground and he quite literally had nothing that could shift the Castellans from the forest in the middle(despite 4 turns of effort).

Thinking of something like this now:

The Knight of Umbar
5c Morannon Orcs with Shields
5c Morannon Orcs with Shields and Capt
2c Castellans of Dol Guldur
3c Orc Trackers

Only 785 Points so far and not sure what to do with the other 215 points. I'm not certain of the trackers, but they seem useful to appear in a terrain piece and snipe from.

Ok, i didnt realise you were taking him on a fell beast...in my opinion, NEVER DO THAT . Outside of the Nazgul Battlehost the only one you would ever want on a fell beast is the tainted...dont bother about the knight, he is much better in a big formation.

Perhaps try out Morgul stalkers, they can ambush, have enchated cloaks, and prowlers. They may not seem like much but hitting something in the flank they are actually hitting on the same thing as Uruk Hai with 2 handed weapons.

This is why you don't take the fell beast, dude.

I wasn't originally planning to use the fellbeast. I kind of made the list on the spot.

I'm thinking of this now:

The Knight of Umbar 125pts
5c Morannon Orcs with Shields 125pts
5c Morannon Orcs with Shields and Capt 175pts
2c Castellans of Dol Guldur 270pts
6c Warg Riders with Shields and Captain 200pts
3c Morgul Stalkers 105pts

1000 Points

With the restrictions you have, thats a good list mate

So I've noticed that GW has FAQed Morgul Knights into the Mordor list. New list!

The Knight of Umbar 125pts
5c Morannon Orcs with Shields 125pts
4c Morannon Orcs with Shields and Capt 150pts
2c Castellans of Dol Guldur 270pts
5c Morgul Knights with Captain 225pts
3c Morgul Stalkers 105pts

1000 Points

EDIT: Bugger it all. I have too many Rare formations. I could take the Dark Marshal and have them be Common, but I like the Knight of Umbar. I really want the Morgul Knights though. I could just be a jerk and break off a company of Morannon orcs to have a 3rd Common formation.

You're kinda slow, ain't ya? That ruling came out months ago.

Also, Castellans are legendary, so I'm not sure why you have too many rare formations...

Also note that Morgul Knights are 1-4 Companies, 5 isn't allowed. Also, some advice on using them, the hit hard, but only once, line up something nice and juicy, they will kill that, but after that they wont do much more for the battle.

Awesome models though

Glass cannons eh? Good to know; I still will pick some up for my Mordor demo force.
