Has anyone heard of this game or better yet even tried it? Looks kinda interesting and it has me intrigued. If you haven't here is the link for the website let me know what you all think.

You might want to PM Cyporiean, as she is like the be all end all of Brushfire, in fact she's one of the lead designers. Very chill lady.

She can tell you more about this than I can, but here goes.

Brushfire is a parody of like 1800s warfare. To put this in terms most people can understand. It is like Brian Jaques' series Redwall, but a few hundred years in the future. So if there was a major empire during that time period, it is represented in Brushfire. There are factions that represent France, England, America, Africa (not really an empire, but very cool models nonetheless), Prussia/Germany, China, and Japan. There is also a Byzantine empire like faction of lizards, but there are only rules, no models :(. Each faction contains models based on the animals from that area (in our world). So Axony (England) has bulldogs, cats, Scottish terriers, etc..

The game works like this.

Every faction decides on a resource count (Food, gold, lumber). You spend food to buy models (points) And you spend gold and lumber for upgrades. These allow you to upgrade weapons, armor, etc. You also get a Hero model which if I remember correctly, does not take from your resource count. You then play like more war games. The system uses a D10, and has various stats like wits, dodge, etc...

The game has no force org, so you're free to take whatever you want (I believe the only restriction is 1 hero). So if you want to run a horde of Hamster Barbarians, you're free to do so.

But yeah, PM Cyporiean if you want more info.

Whats your advice for proxy and giving the system a try out? I already downloaded the three free things to give it a try and so far what I've read is pretty good and pretty straightforward.

If you purchase the rulebook (E-Book or in meatspace), all the base sizes you need are in there.

So you can proxy away. But I can assure you, playing with the actual models is so much better.

We use the same bases as Wyrd and Privateer, so if you play any of their games those will be good basic proxies. We've placed all of the stat cards from our starter sets into the Gallery: http://gallery.on-the-lamb.com/thumbnails.php?album=35

The official stance on proxies with Brushfire is 'Its not your fault we haven't produced the model, we're not going to blame you for fielding someone else's as long as its appropriately based and equiped. Please pick up ours when we release it.'

Gamemasters guild is in Crestview, so I figured it might be close enough. We have to drive to Jax or Orlando for our LGS. We always appreciate gamers talking to their LGS about us, and we do go out to a number of them to run demos and events.

Awseome, well I'll be picking up some D10 tomorrow at work and me and the wife will be play testing. Although she looked at the models and well she had been saying that whe wanted a game with more animals. So I believe I may have found her new favorite TT game. At the very very very least I'm sure we'll be picking up some of the models. I love that beserker hamster.

The Hamsters are our most popular model... and you can field an entire army of the little buggers..

with a Bear.

BTW, Our post-thanksgiving Bundle deal ends at midnight. $15 gets you the Brushfire rulebook and 'Legendary Realms', our first game which was a class-less/level-less industrial punk RPG. (So you save $20 over all.. or $10 on Brushfire, and get a free table leg supporter!)

We released the rulebook at Gencon '10, Models began coming out around April '10.

Since Gencon '11 its been really picking up steam.

The role playing sourcebook comes out next May.
