I play 40k and love to paint and read the books. For years i have always been interested in D&D but sadly have never know anyone willing to sit down and teach me how to play. So when i heard about The Black Crusades game I about died but sit i have met no one who will sit down and show me the ropes. I know there is a book to read that teaches you the rules and all that but if your anything like me that's just not going to cut it. Im an autitory learner i need to have situation happen to learn from them. I read the whole 40k rulebook and me like I'm sure all of you had a tottaly incorrect idea of the rules until it was fully explained to us by a vertran player. So basicaly I live in Orange California i have a car i have gone to local gaming stores while playing 40k but cant find anyone to play Black Crusades with so if this could happen it would make my day

Way on back in the deep caves

1. Find a group that plays.

2. Attend and observe a game.

3. Repeat.

Weirdly enough 40k role play is becoming extremely popular, compared to other non-d&D games. If you find a 40k oriented gaming store, there will most likely be some large organized play. I know in mine, there is a large Death Watch group that runs 8 people by weekly (I live in oklahoma, so gamers are even more sparce than they are in Orange County). The next best thing is look for online players, some people like to joing up in chatroom clients that come with virtual table tops. With a few downloads you could be sitting in on someone's session.

So to recap: Find a local gaming store that is 40k oriented, ask the owner if anyone runs 40k roleplaying games, and if you can pass along an email to him (or her, I guess). Just make sure you are at the right kind of store. My local gaming shop is Magic the gathering oriented, where as the one in another suburb is 40k oriented. I got invited to a Deathwatch session without even asking.

OR: Search forums for online Black Crusade players, you might have to buy a headset if they like talking to one another rather than typing.

Hmm as a bit of a non-traditional approach you could see if there are any videos online explaining the game, or demoing a session, or something like that. I know video reviews are more common now, but a lot of games have "examples of play" videos which might help if you don't absorb much from sitting down and reading the rules. You could also try learning with a friend, since figuring out a game together really is a lot of fun, especially when you can look back on all the silly mistakes you made.
