Hello! I'm not a conversion or magnet expert, I just like painting and playing. I have just ordered some new Necrons, and I'm a thrifty chap. Three Ghost/Doomsday Arks are included in that order. Looking at the model, it is clearly more complicated than the vehicles I am used to sticking magnets on. The obvious differences are the Necron warriors on the top, the inverted arcs, and the doomsday cannon. Has anyone attempted or succeeded in magnetizing one of these models for interchangeable use, or have any ideas on how to try it?

I think most people don't even bother putting the necrons into the ark, and use them instead to represent destructimified necrons.

I have it assembled as a ghost ark, and didn't put the warriors in. The cannon fit good in the top slot. Looks better than the inverted arc imho.

Excellent, this is what I was thinking. Thank you!

Sorry for the threadomancy, but this seemed like the most appropriate place to ask my question...

I've just got the battleforce and wish to assemble the doomsday ark without the arcs inverted (i.e. the opposite from the intended design). My question: would such a construction be 'legal' for official Games Workshop tournament play?

I can't see why it wouldn't, but the chap in my local GW was a bit cagey when I asked him - I'd really like a definitive answer before I commit to assembling it.

Its a conversion - if you have he big gun in there, its obviously a doomsday ark.
Sounds like he wanted you to buy two models.

I have never seen any event which would consider something so simplistic illegal - the only rules in gw events is that a certain percentage be gw parts.

best of luck!

Many thanks for the quick response (itching to start assembly!) - yeah you're probably right, they did seem very eager to flog me lots of stuff. He also insisted that my scarabs had to be mounted 4-to-a-base instead of 3-to-a-base, despite them being a W3 unit. Not so subtle now that I think back!
