it's hard to find a game here. I live in central NJ. I found a facebook group called NJ Gamer that's full of 40k players, but they all seem to live in northern Jersey and play at places that are not only like an hour away from me, but that host their gaming nights right when i would catch rush hour traffic.
any other places to game in NJ?

Where at specifically? Near Philly area at all? There is a big group near the Voorhees, some playing at a new store that opened there, more down at Jesters Playhouse. If you're real close to Philly, you can hop the river and run over to my place. Fridays are good, we game until 2am, mostly 40k.

Hi there, I am in Central Jersey too, living in New Brunswick. Currently there is some intrest brewing to get a gaming group started at Rutgers University. Would you be at all interested in something like that? From what I can tell right now it will be mostly 40k to start.

Spaceman, its unfortunate that you can't hang with the NJ Gamer crew. Yes, we are a primarily North Jersey based group, but we're a great bunch of guys to hang out with. If you ever have some time to hang out/get involved I recommend it!

I currently live in South Jersey and formerly live in the non existent "Central Jersey" that some people like to think exists. It does not, but that's more a fun jest
In the NJ area in general, it is not uncommon to drive 30-40 minutes for anything from pick up games to tournments. Your general options. Being in NJ is actually very good for gaming. If you are a Tournment players you are within driving distance to attend: Conflict, Colonial, Crossroads, Templecon, Valentine Massacre. All are very very fun events. Many people do not have the luxary. Don't get down on yourself. Dakka can help you out.
Maplewood Hobbies~ is not that far from you. They run a lot of events, and have a guy Chris who is very very knowledgable, and a great opponent. **weekends tournments and events, tournments start early so no weekend traffic**
The Only Game in Town~ somerville. good group of warmachine / hordes players. i've gamed against them for tournments at times.
Show Case Comis~ is about an hour to hour / half from you. Runs most of the best events in the area. **weekend events, late night friday gaming**
All Things Fun~ Berlin, NJ. Mainly Warmachine / Hordes a weekly tournament for about $10. You cannot really beat that. They are starting up 40K recently. **regular weekend events. WMHD tournments Saturdays 4pm-8pm, 25-50 pts**
The Warmongers~ play out of NYC. Its a pretty nice venue, and a good competitive club. They run good events.
Jesters Play House~ its little bit of a hike for you. they run events, my understanding is not a lot of painted armies down there.
Gamers Realm~ this is only personal experience. i would be wary there. Gamers Realm has moved around a bit. My experience is their "tournment" gamers do not know the rules, and cheat like crazy. I went there when I was going to college and basically stopped going to the store a few years ago. I ran into illegal lists at tournments, badly run events, store favoritism, and opponents from that store who used to get repeatedly caught cheating at other events. Just be wary. If you looking for giggle games, go for it. But if you look to goto Ard Boys / other tournments, its best to learn elsewhere.
Oh as for a Rush Hour traffic: that's not your area... that's the TRI state area. Roads around here are horrendous. Jersey, from a former resident, is the worst. Bad intersections, mis marked off ramps on highways. The Parkway and the Turnpike are typically parking lots

Oh your in Middlesex? My mom grew up there. I live in the Warren/Watchung area. I always go to Maplewood Hobby in Maplewood NJ on Friday Nights. Its truly a great place, I love it there. There is also a relatively large 40K crowd there on Friday nights, me being one of them. Here's their website, http://www.maplewoodhobby.com/. I HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!

I have been to these three hobby stores, mostly for magic at the time, and they usually have a good group of people. Jester's has a guy working there that will sit down with you and teach you how to paint almost every day of the week, very cool guy, very laid back, and knows just about every single aspect of W40K. If I remember correctly his name is Rich. All Things Fun tends to be more of a baptism by fire kinda store. Most people that go, while being nice, are more competitive than casual. TOGIT can get kinda crazy at times. There is a very young crowd that goes there, and on Friday nights, there are a ton of people in a small space. Again most people there are friendly enough but they tend to be more on the competitive side.
Also in the Woodbridge Mall, right up Rt. 1 is a store called "The Game Room" that sells W40K. They also have two tables in there any every time that I have gone, there are people playing. Not sure how that works but maybe that is
something you would like to check out.
Lastly there looks to be a place called "Little Shop of Comics." Not too far only 12 miles from campus. I have never been here but might be worth checking out as well.

Can't say enough good things about Maplewood and TOGiT. Both have always been friendly and great spots to get a game in. Maplewood even kept the supply of grape soda cold for me.
