Irked Necron Immortal

Fort Wayne, IN

Was doing up a bit of fluff for my Necron army I hope to have come next summer - the backstory for the Overlord commanding. Would love feedback!

The self-styled 'Nemesor' of Tombworld Naris and its armies, Darghul is cunning, ambitious, and deadly. A relatively low-ranking noble of the Ogdobekh Dynasty, Darghul clawed his way to the top of Naris's nobility by employing a mixture of cunning plots and vicious assassinations. His meteoric rise to power culminated with his challenge of the reigning Overlord, whom Darghul slew in single combat. Rumors among the nobility claim that Darghul cheated, though no doubt he would say he merely used the tools at his disposal. Certainly he has done nothing to quell the rumors.

Very nearly his first act upon claiming the title of both Overlord and Nemesor was to crush the organic life-forms sharing the system with them. Darghul holds nothing but disdain for the 'squishies', as he sneeringly refers to them. If he becomes aware of a colony of organics within his territory, he will exterminate them, much as he would an insect. Much of his attention, however, has been diverted lately - the armies of Naris weathered the Great Sleep better than most, and so when Darghul became aware of the appalling state of most other Tombworlds, he saw a chance to expand his coffers and influence.

Darghul approaches beleaguered Tombworlds and offers to lend aid - his armies provide protection while his Crypteks, Spyders, and Scarabs assist in bringing the tomb back to full operational capacity. In return, he asks a pittance, one which most freshly-woken nobles are all too glad to pay. Once the Tombworld becomes fully operational, Darghul once again approaches the reigning Lord and asks if he will swear himself to Darghul's banner, and serve as a worthy advisor to the Nemesor. The speech is, of course, designed to stoke the anger of the proud nobles and spark a refusal, at which point Darghul's forces, now stationed at key positions around the Tombworld, swiftly overwhelm the Tomb's defenses whilst Darghul dispatches the reigning Lord. In this way, all of the resources of the now completely functional Tombworld pass into his possession, and his empire grows.

Darghul's ambition and greed know few bounds. He would see himself as master of the galaxy, ruling from a great palace amongst the stars. For these reasons, it is not uncommon for him to sell his services as a mercenary to other, more powerful Overlords. He seeks to divine their weaknesses before making an attempt to overthrow them, and in the meantime is more than happy to take their coin, which he sees as little more than his due. Several of these Overlords have certainly seen through Darghul's facade - Imotekh the Stormlord and Nemesor Zahndrekh, for example - but Darghul's battle prowess make him an invaluable asset. So these nobles make use of him, but never turn their backs to him.

Good read, although Darghul's methods are more inline with the Nekthyst Dynasty than the Ogdobekh dynasty.

Good Stuff, I to have written some Necron fluff except my fluff is a story about the entire Dynasty not one character.
