Greetings Brothers (and Sisters), Fungi, Daemons, Robots, and all other species of the Galaxy. I've been posting frequently in the Painting & Modeling section recently, giving out advice without actually showing off any of my work. Before I get to that, a little bit of background info on myself and my army.

- This is my first time painting anything since art class in grade school. I have no formal education in painting, modelling, sculpting or any visual arts. The closest thing is my degree in Advertising which gave me some instruction on colours, what looks good and what doesn't look good.

- I've always been a fan of the look of colder climates. I like the various shades of blue, white and grey that are often found in these environments. The Space Wolves' home planet of Fenris is a cold, barren place so my colour scheme reflects the colours that I believe would be found in this part of the world. The main scheme is as follows:

Primer: Krylon Indoor/Outdoor White
Power Armour: Vallejo Model Color Sky Blue basecoat, GW Space Wolves Grey layered over
Shoulder Pauldrons: GW Astronomican Grey outlined with GW Fenris Grey
Soft Armour: GW Necron Abyss
Bone: GW Bleached Bone washed with GW Devlan Mud
Weapons: GW Charadon Granite basecoat, GW Chainmail, GW Mithril Silver (highlight)
Skin: Vallejo Model Color Light Flesh washed with GW Ogryn Flesh
Flock: Woodland Scenics Soft Flake Snow

I'll point out individual details with their colours with each photo.

- My playgroup consists of almost every army in the 40K Universe - Orks, Eldar, Imperial Guard, Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Chaos Daemons, Chaos Space Marines, Sisters of Battle. With three other Marines armies in the group I wanted to make a conscious effort to make my Space Wolves look more than just light blue painted Ultramarines. Not a single model in my army wears a Marine helmet with the exception of the wolf helmets that I used for my models bearing the Mark of the Wulfen.

My army consists of the following:

HQ
- Rune Priest (Runic Armour, Living Lightning, Jaws of the World Wolf)
- Rune Priest (Runic Armour, Wolftail Talisman, Living Lightning, Murderous Hurricane)

When running multiple Rune Priests, they can't have the same combination of wargear or psychic powers. I use the pewter model and the Finecast Njal Stormcaller model as the second RP.

Elites
- Wolf Scouts x5 (Meltagun)
- Wolf Guard x5 (Power Fist, CombiMelta)

Scouts are kept in reserve and used to hopefully deploy along the opponent's board edge and pop a tank or harass heavy weapons infantry. The Wolf Guard are split off and join the Wolf Scouts and Grey Hunters Packs.

Troops
- Grey Hunters x8 (Mark of the Wulfen, Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Rhino)
- Grey Hunters x8 (Mark of the Wulfen, Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Rhino)
- Grey Hunters x9 (Mark of the Wulfen, Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Rhino)
- Grey Hunters x9 (Mark of the Wulfen, Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Rhino)

Each Grey Hunter Pack has a Wolf Guard with it, while the two 8 man squads also get a Rune Priest.

Heavy Support
- Long Fangs x6 (Sergeant, 3x Missile Launcher, 2x Lascannon, Razorback with Lascannon and Twin-Linked Plasma Gun)
- Long Fangs x6 (Sergeant, 3x Missile Launcher, 2x Lascannon, Razorback with Lascannon and Twin-Linked Plasma Gun)

Colour Scheme

With the intro out of the way, here are pics of completed models:

Rune Priest

- For the Force Weapon I wanted a frosty look so I simply drybrushed Space Wolves Grey over the Chainmail. The edge was highlighted in Mithril Silver.
- Grenades and and the Force Weapon handle were done in GW Dwarf Bronze. I like the colour but I find it too shiny for my liking so I went back and washed it with Ogryn Flesh. The wash dulls the shine enough for my liking. I use this technique frequently throughout my army. I added a wash of Devlan Mud just to the axe handle so that they weren't the same colour as the grenades.
- Hair was basecoated in Vallejo Model Color Medium Sea Grey followed by a drybrush of GW Skull White.
- Belt was done in Dark Flesh.
- This was the first miniature I ever painted.

Wolf Scouts

- Got these as part of the Space Wolves Battleforce. I picture Wolf Scouts hiding in the trees and wilderness of Fenris, waiting to ambush an enemy tank or other nasty goodness so I went for a survival/camo theme. I applied some greenstuff to the shoulder pads to make it look like fur. From there I scrounged up some Imperial Guard backpacks from a friend's bits box to hold the Scouts gear like food, ammo, etc. I also added a rolled-up tent to the Meltagunner's backpack so he looks like the squad medic. The Wolf Guard's CombiMelta started out as a plain one handed Bolter then I added bits from a Multimelta from my Devastator Squad box.

- Backpacks were painted in GW Knarloc Green and washed with GW Gryphonne Sepia. For the Meltagunner's tent I used GW Tallarn Flesh and washed it with GW Ogryn Flesh. His backpack was then painted in GW Mechrite Red and highlighted with Blood Red. I wanted the Meltagun to look like it was hot while blasting a tank, so I basecoated the tip in GW Iyanden Darksun and then blended GW Sunburst Yellow, a 50/50 mix of Sunburst Yellow and GW Blood Red to create orange, Blood Red and finally GW Mechrite Red.

- Leather pouches are Vallejo Game Color Leather Brown (supposedly the VGC equivalent of GW Snakebite Leather) and washed with Gryphonne Sepia.

- Chest eagle on the Wolf Guard was painted Chainmail, washed with GW Badab Black and drybrushed with Mithril Silver. Jewel in the middle is GW Mordian Blue.

- I attempted a winter camo pattern on the pants. These were basecoated in Vallejo Model Color Medium Sea Grey with little dots of GW Astronomican Grey, GW Space Wolves Grey and GW Skull White applied with a small brush.

This is all I have completed for now but I plan on keeping this thread updated once some new figures are completed. Next on the agenda is my Long Fangs.

Thanks for reading!
