I am looking for a game store to call home.I work in Irvine and am looking for some place i can go after work to get in a few games during the week.I dont know of many good places to play in the area or what day would be good. The closest store that i know of is the LA battle bunker but im not sure, since its a GW store and ive heard nothing but horrible things about them.
Im mainly looking for a place with a good active group of guys to play with.

You are a bit further south than me, so I don't think Game Empire in Pasadena would be much of an option. If you are ever up in Pasadena, though, it is a pretty fantastic shop. Most of the staff are helpful, especially Travis who seems to have a grasp on just about every major game currently in production. The inventory is good and the gaming space is top notch. From personal experience they are a little flaky on special orders but they do make them if you need something they don't regularly stock. And their used game section can land you some great deals.
Down by you there is Brookhurst Hobbies which has a huge selection but I don't know how their local gaming scene rates. There is also The War House in Long Beach. Never been to that one but I hear the merchandise is pretty diverse with lots of current and OOP items.

I play at the LA Battle Bunker every week and its not bad at all. I'm sure you might get hit up by the staff a few times if you've never been there before, but other than that its great. The amount of space they have for painting and gaming is especially awesome.

There is a GW store in Mission Viejo across the street from Trabuco High School. That is the only store in the area with gaming space besides the GW in tustin or going to LA or San Diego.

What would be a good day to go to the bunker during the week?

I'm not too sure. As far as I know there's quite a few people there on Fridays, but other than that I'm not positive.
