Is it considered OK (or not) to keep a army log going in P & M, and then to post the finished pics of unit X in the Showcase, but also to post the same pics of finished unit X in the ongoing army P & M log? Seems alright but also seems like I should ask first.

That's no problem at all. It's easy for stuff to be buried in the Blogs, and not everyone is interested in the build process, so for sure show off the finished piece in the Showcase as well.

Yea, im of the impression that the blobs don't really count as postings not many people look at them anyway, so if you are particularly proud of something or want a critique, th showcase or painting and modeling sections are better... but you should still keep your blog up to date anyway.

I'm doing both - my voting disabled images go in the blog, and then the finish ones, which I shall pimp out for votes, I will put in the showcase.

I do it very rarely if I'm also running a blog to perhaps build some interest in it. Feedback is quite important when running a project.
