Hey everyone!
Looks like my group of players are jumping ship to FoW until we see the new 6E rulebook for 40k. (5E is awful)
So we chose our armies and it seems we all agree to attempt to play armour only until we get used to the system.
We will slowly being adding in arty/Inf/Air support as we go...
With that said we have not bought the V2 rules as the V3 rules are imminent... we did however buy Eastern Front...
I have come up with a 1500 pt list for a Panzer Company.
Now I have never read the rules or played a single game so this list may be a complete waste of time lol.....
HQ: 2 Panzer 4 H's
CP1: 3 Panzer 4 H's (have to have 1 group be same tank as HQ)
CP2: 3 Stug G's
SP: 3 Luchs'
1500 pts..... 11 Tanks total.......... Seem feasible? This is intended to be a tank only list.....

Eastern Front is mid war. I recommend you check out the Panzer IV F1. I would also invest in at least one platoon of infantry to hold objectives.
If you want very few tanks you may also want to check out the Pantherkompanie list.

In my version of this book the Eastern Front, a regular Panzer Kompanie The HQ choices are:
Panzer IV G or H
Panther D
Stug G
Also when I go to the Combat Platoons it has the smae choices....
Is this army a Late Era army then? I was under the impression the whole book was Mid Era? It does say Late next to the Panzer G but not the H... There is also no option for a Panzer IV F1 under this company?

As as fellow newbie, look at the statistics for your tanks. I would rate the Panzer IV's as a basic type of tank. If you get into the Panthers and Tigers, you get a better quality of tank. Of course they are high pointed tanks for a reason. The Stug G has better front armour but lacks the Co-ax MG. Take note I am a newbie also so I do not understand half of what I am saying.

@ Milisim: You're right regarding the HQ. The Panzer IV F1 can be found in the Mittlere Panzer Platoon on Page #34. You can have one Mittlere platoon as a combat platoon in a regular Panzerkompanie.
StuG Gs are better in tank on tank fights, Panzer IVs are better vs. infantry.

Modelwise, there isn't too much of a difference between a PanzerIV G or H so they can easily be used interchangably. Its mostly for fluff that you would distinguish between them.
As an armor player, its easy to fall into the trap of falling for Big Cats. Don't do it. Tiger and, to a lesser extent, Panther companies can have some major issues, especially once Infantry starts showing up. StuG and Panzer IV companies do better from a balance perspective.

Good thing I got 5 Tigers for $20 from theWarstore so I dont feel too bad about whether or not I field them.

Thanks for all the help so far fellas!
I have a feeling I will be playing against a Soviet Tank Spam list for the first few months until we branch out into more units...
Would a balanced list be the way to go against this type of army? It seems even with a german non SS tank army I can only get about 10 real tanks.... for his 20. Would a mix of Infantry with AT Guns and a single decent tank be effective?
Panzerknacker upgrades worth it on troops against Armour?
I really need to find a game in my area and see how this game works out compared to 40k... I dont think its taken off yet though.

AT guns will be a very valuable addition.
A platoon of Pak40s should do the trick, especially if you can ambush them.
Panzerknacker is an ok upgrade, but if you have points Panzerfausts are better.
But I would get a game in first and see how it plays out for you before you worry about tactics. It is different from 40k, but it isn't that hard to transition.

I'm not sure about Eastern Front specifically, but Panzerfausts aren't an option in a lot of Midwar lists. Panzerfausts are certainly better if they're available, but I would always at least take the Panzerknacker upgrade, especially if you know you're going up against tanks. The only time I might consider not taking it would be in a Pioneer platoon, since German Pioneer teams are AT 4 in assaults anyway.

I think you will really be hurting yourself if you limit yourself to just armor.
Keep a low point threshold, but allow infantry so you are familiar with how they play and interact as well. Particularly since there are so many different rules for infantry.

and infantry really arn't all that hard to use. Its armor that has the funky comparason of anti-tank to armor and then seeing if you have a save, taking any saves, then rolling a firepower test...
Infantry is shoot, hit, roll infantry save, roll firepower test if in bulletproof cover, remove casualities.

In the Eastern Front book most HQ Command Infantry can upgrade to PanzerKnacker... No other options....
Most equipment is always the lesser gear... Pak 38's, Panzer IV f1, Stug D's etc......
I made a list for a Gerpanzerte Grenadiers list at 1500 pts even..
HQ: 1 SMG / 1 SMG with pknacker / 2 251/1c
CP: 6 MG Teams / 1 SMG Pknacker / 4 251/1c
HWCP: 1 SMG / 1 SMG Pknacker / 2 251/9c (7.5 cm)
3 Pak 38 (sf)
2 Stug D's with Skirts
4 Marder III M's
6 R-VeilFach's w/5man crews....
This list comes in at 1500 pts exactly...
Some of these models I couldnt find though.... Pak 38 on a halftrack.... Couldnt find it.... Also couldnt find a 251/9c
Is this list viable? Can these models be made from other kits? Automatically Appended Next Post: I found the 251/9c on the Fow website but the Pak mounted on a 251 chassis is still eluding me.....
