I for one am very happy to hear this. I HATED 4th edition, and, like the article says, moved to Pathfinder. Pretty much anyone I RPG with moved as well. I'll be looking forward to seeing what they do with the game.

4th Edition absolutely destroyed the forgotten realms for me. I cannot even read the novels anymore because it is so foreign and nothing of what it used to be. 5th cannot repair this in my opinion. I lost a bit of my childhood with 4th Edition. Thank goodness for 40k.

When in doubt.........Duck!

Even in the far future there can still be heroes...

Then get to the DnD website and sign up to be part of the playtest scheme. 4th edition was good for newbies who came to D&D from World of Warcraft. All I've heard from the designer tweets is that they are going to try and provide a universal system so you can play it how you want. For me that means making the power cards optional and providing spell books that work with the cards as an either / or solution.

My big problem with 3rd edition (and continued in pathfinder) is the feat system.. I hope 5th edition finally splits up you advancements among combat and NON combat tracks

3rd and 4th both have issues where it makes no sense to ever take non-combat feats yet WoTC continues to include such feats

IF you want people to take them then stop making them take up combat feat slots

That sentence is two words too long.

4th Edition absolutely destroyed the Forgotten Realms. The setting might not have been perfect - my biggest bugbear was with the Wall and how it ran roughshod over any reasonable definition of "good" deities - but the gods getting another more severe case of stupid and decimating the plane wasn't a solution.

There was already a thread on this in the OT forum, I'm moving it here and closing this one.

Enjoy!
