Here are some pics of my custom built salamander scout. Its design inspiration was the SDkfz 25. What do you think?

I got them working as links, at least.

Can you put a model next to that thing for scale?

Did you scratch build that thing? I mean, I do see various GW bitz, plus some Tamiya stuff, but it looks like the chassis is all scratch from plasticard! Great job! I am curious, why all the work? Tamiya and others have 1/35 (and possibly even 1/48?) scale kits you could bash with GW stuff. Regardless, well done on putting that together. Quite impressive! What are you going to do for the drive assembly (tracks & wheels)?

The thing is totally scratch built with mostly GW bits and a little tamiya 1/35 scale stuff. To give you an idea of scale I'll post a couple more photos in a little while. but it is a little smaller in overall size than a chimera. Its open interior fits two sentinel crewmen and a radioman with controls lifted from the rhino interior. The salamander is a 6x6 with large (trukk) wheels for the rear 4 wheels and small (bike) wheels for the front axle.

I've recently finished painting and  weathering the vehicle in a flat Olive Drab to match my WWII themed guard armored forces. Once I find out where those photos got to I will post them as well.

I got the idea after doing some serious work on a leman russ to make it more aggressively armored. The shots of the salamander from IA just didn't fit what I thought a recon vehicle should look like. That and the awesome treadhead article in Black Gobbo a ways back got me hyped.

Oh, If you're interested I've also got some pics handy of a super chimera custom build. Also built entirely from plasticard and GW bits its heritage lies in the marine corps LAV III.
