Hello and welcome,
After much pondering, doubt and much nonsense I have decided to try my hand at blogging about. Fortunately, I have an up and coming Wood Elf army for WHFB, and hopefully this project will keep me motivated to finish the army. I also have some other frisky projects on the side, but I will keep them hush-hush for now
I had most of this army packed in boxed for years, as I have moved away from mini gaming and painting for 4-5 years, so I have returned quite recently form my self imposed exile.
Little did I know, that WE had became undisputed underdogs of Warhammer On the bright side, years later, the same book is still in use... Hooray?
But enough with the pleasantries, here are the Asrai(not all, but the main bulk of what I wil actually USE):
Closeup:
Some Characters I have painted years ago:
The aim is to fully finish 2000 point list that I have compiled for 8th edition, as I plan to play with them along the way.
Without going too much into detail, it's MSU hosh-posh of GG, Dryads, Eagles and Waywatchers.
After a bit of testing I have settled on the paint-scheme that is something along these lines(unfortunately, the lighting I have available mangles the colors beyond what my photo-editing skills can salvage):
(the actual green on the cloak and similar details is strong and saturated, but yellow light kills it)
OK, I think this will do for starters, but do let me know what you think/feel I should add here. Blog layout, lighting, photo-editing suggestions are particularly welcome :

Very nice, Wood Elves. I think we get a better idea of the greens for your Glade Guard in the group shot than in the solo shot unfortunately. They look good.
It would be nice to see a close up of your lord, in non-yellow lighting of course. lol
I've been thinking of starting a P&M blog for my growing Asrai force too, so I will be following your blog. Look forward to more.

Thank you for the feedback
Lighting is difficult to alter, as I am limited to what is available in the dorm room, but solo shots of characters can be done.

I also wanted to share something I have came up with and found to be incredibly helpful - customizable magnetized unit filler. The idea is to create a magnetized pedestal on a 40x40 base (or 50x50) and then just swap statues for it depending on unit/army the filler is used in. In my case I used an Eternal guard standard bearer to act as a filler for Glade Guard. The Pedestal is made from two successive layers of putty, and a powerful magnet within the hollow inside space. For another army I can just swap the top for whatever I feel is appropriate.
Here's the filler piece:
As always, let me know what you think.

Despite the limitations of light, your character models look well painted and you choice of color on them should help them pop out on the battlefield.
I think you pedestal idea is brilliant, are you going to paint a single eternal guard as a statue? If so I think you are on to a very good filler idea. However I think if you intend to paint the E guard as another E guard it loses some of its appeal. Definitely a better idea than most unit fillers I have seen!

Yes I have to agree that unit filler idea is fantastic!
The Asrai are a fun army to paint. The models are so fantastic. Your Glade Guard look really nice, great colors!
Are you using a camera or a phone for photos? If a camera, you may be able to get into the menu settings to adjust for the lighting. My old camera had menu selections for sodium lights (yellowish), daylight, etc, that worked wonders for true colors in the photos. Anyway, any more than that and it is outside MY photography skillz!
Good work and looking forward to seeing more!
