This is a great group of guys (many war veterans) looking for a hand getting a new business off the ground. Please be generous. I've played Hullbreach and it is an awesome game!
Our FLGS participates in Beta testing and regular tournys.....The game was so GOOD we actually halted playing 40k for about a month because we just could not put this game down.... right now they only have a handful of factions and decks, with your support we all could get hooked on this amazing game!
-Please show your support, no ammount is too small!-
Faction profiles and artwork below!

The rules seem quite good tbh and a lot of work seems to have gone into it.
However, posting a single link to a site asking for a donation is not likely to garner much response.

I'd recommend posting some background on the game, a brief overview of rules, what makes it unique, what its strenghts are, why pople would want to play it etc.

You need to grab peoples attention and show them why a donation might be worthwhile.
Unfortunately and not meaning to sound harsh, your OP does not do that.

Thank you for your advice, im going to do a write up of the game and various factions. The game has a rich background and fluff aspect to it. More to come later today....

okay now for a Bio on the playable factions of the game:
First off, the RDF or Republic Defence Force

The Republic Defense Forces (RDF) serves as the civic government, law-enforcement and primary military force of humanity. Formed in 2455 after the Battle of Tau Ceti, when a fleet from its predecessor the United Earth Federation engaged a hostile alien fleet near a human colony, the RDF’s original mission was to protect Earth and her colonies from further attacks – further attacks that, for reasons unknown, never occurred.

Its initial mandate limited the RDF to something of a paper tiger with only a small standing navy at its disposal. Plans dictated that in the event of an external threat, the Big Three corporations would contribute money, ships and manpower to RDF Expeditionary Forces that would then be dispatched to meet the threat. As this left the RDF essentially at the mercy of those it was intended to protect, many within the upper tiers of the fledgling military were dissatisfied.

In 2459, RDF reconnaissance teams discovered a star system packed with habitable planets and rich natural resources, and took the unprecedented step of claiming it as RDF territory. The Orion system, as it became known, has served as the RDF’s military and political home ever since. Control over this system elevated the RDF from a UN-like force that served at the pleasure of the Big Three corporations to an independent faction wielding substantial power of its own.

Following the tragedy at the frontier planet XTY-55 in 2469, the RDF faced calls from the public to step in and prevent a possible war between the Big Three, which it only reluctantly attempted. Anaheim Manufacturing walked away from the RDF-led mediation and the two forged an informal alliance. Experts suspect that the release of the schematics for the Anaheim-designed Condor-class battleship to the RDF facilitated the agreement. In any case, armed conflict broke out in 2471 and a 14-year period of on-again, off-again war known as the Corporate Wars began, causing terrible loss and suffering for all humanity’s various factions.

After the signing of the Takamura Treaty in 2485, the RDF assumed civic authority over all human worlds and colonies in so-called ‘civilized space,’ becoming the de facto human government almost overnight as the battered corporations abdicated that responsibility in their respective areas of influence. This arrangement exists more in theory than in reality; the corporations still have not entirely divested themselves of the infrastructure that they used to administer their respective territories and thus the role of the typical RDF government official in corporate space is that of the harried, overworked and largely ineffective bureaucrat. Meanwhile, the corporations continue to push into new sectors of space – without RDF oversight – and still oversee the day-to-day lives of those people living in their home systems.

The RDF’s hallmarks are a fairly small but professional and agile navy consisting of a large number of career officers, who man-for-man are more disciplined and well-trained than their corporate counterparts. When rapid deployment of its fleets is undesirable, the RDF falls back on underhanded tactics, including assassination, torture, and myriad other covert actions. Its Achilles heel is its relatively weak economy, since it is still in the process of consolidating its civic power and its rival factions, the Big Three, own virtually everything – the RDF’s tax base and economic power are still largely limited to the Orion System, although it is expanding.

-Anaheim Manufacturing-

Anaheim Manufacturing was formed on the ruins of Anaheim, California in 2300, about 150 years after the world died in nuclear fire. The ‘new’ Anaheim sprung up after the discovery of a vast underground factory by a wasteland wanderer, which held remarkably intact stocks of information and technology. This kick-started human recovery and within a few decades other enclaves were popping up around the world, ultimately Anaheim Manufacturing would become one of the Big Three that dominates the human economy.

Anaheim, as it is popularly known, specializes in light manufacturing of home goods and sundries, aftermarket electronics and equipment for spacecraft, and firearms. One of its largest subsidiaries maintains large stake in food production galaxy-wide. Its shipbuilding capabilities were severely curtailed after the Corporate Wars, which some claim Anaheim all but started, and Anaheim has reached an uneasy but functional agreement with rival Xeros Engineering to finish the outfitting of ship hulls that Xeros produces.

Anaheim is also responsible for the production of the Condor-class battleship shortly before the outbreak of the wars; it was the first hull design to mate conventional firepower with ample bays and facilities to house fighter wings. Its introduction set warship development down a new path.

Headquartered in the Tau Ceti System, Anaheim is locked in a constant struggle with the other factions for dominance of humanity. Like all the other corporations it maintains its own fleets of warships and Marines, a practice begun long ago when the Big Three controlled and administered their own sectors of space. That responsibility has been largely handed off to the RDF but the corporations use their fleets in a sort of stellar cold war against one another – that occasionally turns hot – and to deal with pirates and Colonials as they see fit.

Anaheim takes great pains to portray itself as a values-oriented corporation in touch with the common person. As such it has always tried to be accessible to the public and maintains an enormous public relations division. Internally, the company suffers from nepotism, favoritism, and a general “good old boy” climate. The McKendle family was slowly forced out of leadership positions in the mid-2400s.

After the conclusion of the Corporate Wars, Anaheim attempted to reinvent its faltering image by installing one of John McKendle’s descendants as the new CEO, ostensibly to “clean up” the company and return it to its roots. Just how much business accumen Leonard McKendle has – and how much power he actually wields within his own company – remains to be seen.

Facts:
Founded: 2300
Current CEO: Leonard McKendle
Headquarters: Tau Ceti 3

Notable Subsidiaries:

Anaheim Defense Technologies, Inc. – Produces basic military equipment, armor, weapons, computers, etc.
Belgo-Germania Firearms – Manufactures a wide variety of high-end personal weapons for military and law-enforcement purchasers.
Ceti Astral Solutions – Assembles complex electronic and computer systems for space vehicles.
California Propulsion – Produces ship propulsion systems.
Anaheim Distributors – Food and produce distribution.
Tau Ceti Stellar Defense – The subsidiary under which Anaheim’s navy operates.
Pacific Protection and Security – Provides private security contractors, law enforcement agents, and combat troops for Anaheim operations.
Executor Mineral Extraction – A major mining firm specializing in long-term operations in deep space.

-Bank of The Galaxy-

Bank of the Galaxy – popularly abbreviated as BotG – traces its origin as far back as 2370, when it was incorporated as Global Bank to facilitate trade between Anaheim Manufacturing and Xeros Engineering. After humanity touched down on Alpha Centauri, corporate executives decided to rebrand the company to better reflect its extrasolar reach.

BotG, as its name implies, is for all intents and purposes the only bank humanity knows. Like all other corporations its tentacles spread in a thousand directions under the myriad names of its various subsidiaries, but it truly does hold sway over all things financial across the cosmos. Its founders and directors decided that, with manufacturing already gobbled up by the other corporations, the only avenue of profitability left to them was to control all the profit.

Its financial dominance also spreads to the news and entertainment industries, allowing it to not only rake in untold trillions in people’s disposable income through movies, music and the news channel of record, the Galactic News Network, but to simultaneously and subtly shape public opinion in whatever manner its leaders choose. The colossal bulk of BotG’s media empire, when turned squarely at a target, is capable of evoking whatever feelings its masters desire in the public at large.

BotG’s reliance on manipulation of its rivals has left it without question in the weakest military position of all the factions. The problem is ameliorated to a great extent by BotG’s ability to, in the long run, shape the very landscape upon which the various factions battle, but it took steps to both shore up its combat ability and burnish its image in the short term by acquiring the revered Artemis Assault and Consulting organization. Artemis, as it is known, is an all-female mercenary group that has carefully cultivated a public reputation for righteousness and morality that is beyond reproach despite by their very nature being little more than guns for hire. Artemis itself is a large part of the media empire that pours money into BotG’s coffers with overblown tales of their exploits captivating viewers across every world.

Following the end of the Corporate Wars, then-CEO Erasmo Baumkirchner II suffered a fatal heart attack, opening the door for his son, Erasmo Baumkirchner III, to step in and assume that role. Prepared from a young age to take a senior position with the company, he orchestrated a massive ‘house-cleaning,’ clearing out dozens of senior executives and replacing them with a new crop of trusted associates. His plans for the company remain unclear to outside observers but experts infer that there was a serious clash of style and vision between him and his father, and that the younger Baumkirchner intends to steer the company in a different direction.

BotG makes its home in the Epsilon Eridani system, although GNN has recently relocated its news headquarters to Orion Prime in order to be closer to the epicenter of galactic politics.

Facts
CEO: Erasmo Baumkirchner III
Headquarters: Epsilon Eridani 3
Was the company that designed the largest stealth capable ship known, the Seraphim-class Battlecruiser

Some major subsidiaries:

First Bank of Epsilon Eridani
Republic Naval Credit Union
Galactic Mortgage and Loan
BotG Naval Support Services, Inc. (BotG’s fleet)
Eridanus Security (BotG’s law enforcement and paramilitary infantry capacity)
Galaxy News Network
Artemis Assault and Consulting (mercenary group)

-Xeros Engineering corp.-

Founded in 2305 in what was once Egypt, Xeros specializes in heavy construction both dirtside and in space. Nearly every heavy construction project, including urban development, space colonies, and spacecraft, is carried out by Xeros engineers.

The two feathers in Xeros’s collective cap both relate to warship production. Xeros was the first corporation to produce a purpose-built warship in 2434, and the first to produce a Franklin Space Fold Drive-equipped capital ship – the Wyvern – in 2468. Its shipyards at Capella 4 were the site of the first engagement of the 14-year Corporate Wars, where the RDF used nuclear weapons to destroy the facilities, including the Wyvern, which the RDF had tried unsuccessfully to convince Xeros to sell to them.

Following the Corporate Wars, Xeros found itself in the position of being the most well-equipped and experienced shipbuilding, so perhaps paradoxically Xeros manufactures ships and then sells them to its competitors. Xeros-built ships engage one another in combat routinely but the money both made and saved is substantial enough to continue the cycle.

Xeros and Anaheim are the two most bitter rivals of the four major factions, being the most closely comparable of all of them. Their agreement with regard to ship production outfitting is continued because it is mutually profitable but despite that relations between the two corporations are cool at best.

Internally, Xeros Engineering and its subsidiaries are far more meritocratic than their competitors. Employees can rise faster within the ranks than anywhere else, but failure at any level is not tolerated and so those same careers can fall just as quickly. At higher levels within the corporation those falls are often fatal.

In the world of public relations, Xeros’s strategy is that of “the best public relations are the kind that don’t say anything.” Xeros’s tight-lipped stance on most issues and determined avoidance of major publicity has resulted in a retention of public trust and favorable opinion after the Corporate Wars.

-The Colonials-

“Colonial” is a catch-all term applied to all those people living outside so-called ‘civilized space’ and thus outside both the protection of the RDF and the economic influence of the Big Three. Every Colonial seems to have his or her own reason for relocating out beyond the grasp of authority but common reasons are the desire for economic or political freedom, or negative experiences with either the RDF or a corporation, which can sometimes have long-term repercussions for a perceived malcontent.

Colonial settlements range from small mining outposts to larger and more well-furnished space stations to even planetside habitats. Most of these settlements are independent but have been known to form loose trade agreements to keep one another supplied with various goods, both essential and non-essential. An entire social class of spacefaring traders shuttling between these worlds has been created in recent decades; the birth of the self-sufficient trader – or smuggler, depending on who is describing the person in question – traces its roots to the devastation of the Corporate Wars when civilian infrastructure suffered greatly and the various factions were far more concerned with war. Private citizens stepped into the breach and found it to be both profitable and ‘humane.’

Occasionally, Colonial outposts will band together into a local alliance for mutual protection. The Rattlesnake Confederation is perhaps the most well-known example of such an alliance; it became the most militant group of colonies in close proximity to one another and one of the few to embrace the theory of safety in numbers rather than the theory of safety by remaining small and quiet. Even the most militant Colonial fleets consist of second- and third-hand ships in varying states of modernity and repair, typically crewed by mercenaries, private citizens, or veterans of the RDF or corporate navies.

Generally Colonial organizations are ignored by the RDF and the Big Three provided they do not make themselves a target; the RDF is rumored to maintain a master list of all known Colonial outposts that is rank-ordered by “threat level.” Once an outpost crosses a certain threshold through acts of violence or other antagonism against the RDF or corporations a strike force typically moves in and either seizes control of the colony or wipes it out entirely. The corporations tend to attempt a hostile takeover when their analysts determine that a colony’s potential as a lucrative market for their goods or services outweighs the costs incurred in actually seizing it.

Often lumped loosely together with Colonials are pirates, terrorists, and other criminal elements; some Colonial groups are in fact little more than terrorist or revolutionary organizations and thus the RDF and corporations can freely paint them all with that same broad brush. Public opinion has been carefully molded to regard anyone living outside the umbrella of RDF and corporate protection as a threat and a menace. However, Colonial outposts typically refrain from associating with criminal elements as they bring unwanted attention to the Colonials themselves, increasing the likelihood of RDF or corporate intervention.

Should probably let them know they should have someone do a grammar pass on their Kickstarter page. It's hard to trust someone with my hard earned money if they can't put in the effort to at least look professional.

Also, the whole "we already blew thru 20K, so give us another 20K" is a little offputting. The Kickstarter page talks all about a BETA run, I guess what the store is selling currently is the Alpha then?

Indeed, This is a New England based company that has managed to get their first run of Cards out to select game stores in the New England area, my FLGS being one of them. They have an alpha run of the game that went over fantastic in the local game scene but now their trying to purchase a large run of the new set of cards. The game was incredibly solid and tactically challenging to everyone but people had their typical alpha testing advice and comments to help the game grow. Like all phenomenal game studios they listened to the advice and are trying to fund essentially the 2nd edition of the CCG.

They are not 20k in the hole, they state they have made back their money slowly but with small profit margins. They simply do not have the funding to buy a large print run of the game and just need a helping hand. The CEO wrote the page in order to connect with you, the gamer, personally and i think it attests to the Gamers designing games philosophy they have.. there is plenty of literary types involved with the project.

The RDF have spies everywhere you know. Yes, this is a real game you can really buy AND NO we didn't spend 20K on crank -- developing a game from scratch is more expensive then you'd think. Additionally, due to our rocking system and great art and story -- we made all that money back with a little extra. We're actually being looked at by a major player in the industry. Additionally, in the meantime -- we have to keep plugging along as if we had no extra help from above at all. SO --- all that forum stuff fairly answered... check out www.hullbreachccg.com

The RDF thanks you for your loyalty and vigilance in this matter.

I really want to like this product, but finding information on it is pretty abysmal. The forums don't seem to have much relevant info on it.

I want to try it out - do I buy the decks in the store, or is a new version coming in the immediate future I should be waiting for?

The decks in the store say they are pre-constructed, so are there not "booster packs" of the game?

Fresh-Faced New User

@piperider361

the system is currently in a LCG format... meaning by all 10 stations (all 10 pre-cons) you possess all of HB! you can also create "pro-decks" which are the hybred of cards from different decks. To answer your question more syntactically -- no, there are no boosters.

the game is about to be picked up by a big name publisher -- I wont bore you with the details but the game will be undergoing an overhaul. BUT -- the initial game is still great and fun -- and it'll be a while (6months at the earliest to X-mas) -- before the upgraded Box Set Game with expansions is complete and ready for sale.

If you need to see the game in action -- go to the rules page and download the rules for free on the website.

Played for about 6 hours on Sunday. We played one 4 player free for all, then swapped out and did a bunch of 1v1s. It was super fun, although the precon decks were not the best...we'll definitely be mixing the cards up some.

We do have some rules questions we need to figure out, but that's to be expected.

It plays a lot like FFG's Warhammer: Invasion if anyone's curious. I'm not sure the dice mechanic makes it better, but it does make it more unique and adds a bit more randomess that you have in something like Magic.
