With the announcement of Privateer Press's in-house developed army creation
app called War Room, I was wondering if there was any app you used on any
kind of mobile device in your tabletop gaming. I'm curious as to what's out there
and what I'm missing out on.

I probably would if I had access to them, there are some really cool ones coming out, but data plans are just too expensive to justify a smartphone for me.
I'm sure there's someway to use some of them on a desktop but most are meant to be mobile and don't work as well sitting at home.

Apps?
No.
I use AB and Devilteam Infinity army builder - neither for an iOS platform - just my comp at home.
That said, I don't play WM/H anymore. It's not the models, it's the players.

I tend to play around with free army builders and digital rulebooks at home, but like Dais, I can't justify a smartphone and the accompanying data plan. Even if I could access them (and played enough to potentially justify using one), I don't know of anything aside from list creation that really warrants electronic assistance. The point at which things become sufficiently complicated that a player requires more than a rulebook, tape measure, some dice/cards, and an ounce of wit is the point at which you've begun inexplicably making dynamic dioramas to reenact your video game battles.

I'm writing a python application that matches up two units and simulates a close combat battle between them.
It's rough around the edges right now but it works.
You need to run it in a python shell, if you don't know what that means just Google, how to install "idle for python 3".
Anyway this is a double post because I mentioned it in the general WHFB forum.

Even if I had a smartphone, I'd rather roll dice myself and so on. I don't need Army Builder/Bodger to write my army lists, since I can do math well enough myself and don't need the formatting. Wargaming is a very tactile hobby, and I don't really want to see it digitalized, outside of separate computer games like the DoW series.

I use Battlescribe for Android, its a bit of a faff to get the core files for different armies, and as it relys on user input there can occassionally be inaccuracies, but once its running, it works well and highlights any illegal choices.
Would like a few more export options for finsihed lists, but hey, its free, I can live with emailing it to myself and cutting and pasting!

Battlescribe for android is amazing, albeit a bit of a pain to set up.
The Munchkin app is great... for Munchkin.
There's a couple of dice stat apps that are good (or just use battlescribe if you want to pay for it).
Privateer Press just nailed it though, they are truly the future of tabletop gaming.
Right now is probably the best time imaginable for a gamer to buy a iPad / Kindle Fire.

The Kindle is technically an Android tablet, but the particular flavor it uses is pretty badly hobbled, and the lack of buttons on the thing prevents you from jail breaking it to vanilla Android very easily. So yeah, you could theoretically run any app you wanted on the thing, it's just too much of a pain in the ass to be bothered.

Actually, i run Battlescribe on my Kindle Fire. It's easy to set up the app. You transfer the .apk file over, find a free file manager in the android market, and open it. I find that i understand my armies better after I spend a ton of time doing data entry, so that's actually a plus in my book. Plus, it's free. Not a huge deal, but it's actually well-supported, offers multiple formats for printing when you transfer the files back to your computer, if you're into that sort of thing.

I'm a big fan of iBodger. Nothing like making army lists and checking rules while on the crapper. I also have an app called Hit Chance or something similar sounding. It calculates your percent of success by entering your MAT or RAT and their DEF. It tells you boosted and unboosted chances to hit and chances to crit. Pretty nifty if you're not good at calculating that sort of thing.
The last app I'm very fond of is Battle Timer. You enter the name of you and your opponent, select your factions, set the time limit and extension limit, and you're good to go. You can set custom alarms as well. I'm a big fan of using the "reactor meltdown" alarm. It's way better than an egg timer in my opinion.
