Typically in the tutorial or Painting & Miniature Showcase forums, you may hit a thread which immediately has a link to the poster's personal blog hosted on some external site. I would like to recommend these threads be quickly locked and allowed to die in obscurity.
This wouldn't need to apply to each and every thread with an external link and stuff like links in signatures should be allowed, but when I go to a tutoral post or a showcase post, I wan't to see the stuff right there, not be given a link to a blog that may or may not work.
This would be situational and need to be taken on a case by case basis but it would help.

I agree. If they want to post it on dakka they should c&p it and have a link to their blog at the bottom.

Well it is actually against the showcase rules so those should be locked. I agree though, I don't click on a thread to just click a link to a random blog somewhere.

To be honest, I don't even want them there. The purpose of a thread in these forums is to show off your work and have it praised/critiqued/ignored by the rest of us. Linking to your own site and saying, "Come see what I did" isn't really supporting that. I mean, are we supposed to go look at your blog then come back to Dakka and post comments? That's silly.

If people want comments, content in the post will be more likely
to bump such posts than links to blogs. So right now we move
linked to blog posts to painting and modeling.
