So, there's a doubles tournament that me and a friend have planned to go to this year. So as one half of the force i decided to go for raven guard. i'm not usually a fan of black armour because i like the old 90's style of painting with bright colours and stuff. but before i go on....

Pics!

more pics..

I have tried to mix and match all the armour i had ( most of it being MK5 - my fave!). If your thinking of buying the Forge World armour sets, then i'd say go for it if your have the spare cash they're great (especially the assault marine kits!). I'm also happy with the poses, i love the idea of having separate hands, they give more pose options that can give a very dynamic feel to the marines.

sorry for the links in advance, can't seem to be able to post pictures at the moment!

ok, so i have hit my first hurdle. i wanted a slight blue hue to my raven guard armour, so i went about glazing the black with intermediate blue;

as you see here is looks sort of alright under a daylight bulb

right under the bulb, it looks a bit 'space-wolfy' but not so bad

this is where my lovely camera show all the flaws :( the scout on the left seems fine, but the one on the right seems to show scratches (probably from filing). if anyone is watching, do YOU have any tips on glazing? or can see where i am going wrong with my technique?

On a good note though, i usually fear the idea of painting skin becasue it usually ends up like this;

but earlier i cracked it on the termie sgt's head

and i have started working on the assault sgt's helmet

thats all for now!

managed to take some close up shots of the terminators. because there is no moulded terminator shoulder pads or special 'raven guard bits' for them i used the brass etchings (you might be able to make them out!)

all the arms have been magnetised so i can make my own thunder hammers (stylised in a raven guard fashion!) incase i feel like a change from 25 power weapon attacks on the charge..

also in the pipeline is this;

'Mr Shrike, i presume?...' - he need a lot of work, and more smoothing i think. i'm basically tring to copy the image from the codex, with the smooth armour and slightly hunched posture.

right, managed to get the scouts done. i need to figure out what i want to do to thier cloaks. i might do an octocamo type thing but that depends on how much i can be bothered! these arent the best pics (think i need better light) so i'll take some more tomorrow in the sunlight. i might have to do the eyes again, as they look startled!

on a good note i'm much happier with the skin and hard edge highlighting. better to stick with what you know it seems!

Right it's been longer than usual. life + university + dark eldar and other things getting in the way as it does!

so i managed to finish an assault squad. i haven't named them yet, probably wont as i have no clue what to name them. i just have to do transfers which, i'm certain i hate more than anything.
