So I'm new to the world of Warhammer... very new. Anyways, after much deliberation I've decided to go with a dwarf army. I haven't ordered any of my miniatures yet, but plan to do so shortly. A good friend let me practice on some unpainted orcs that he had lying around. (I've never painted OR modeled miniatures before so this whole process is becoming quite the experience.) Obviously since I haven't got any mini's yet I cannot start the assembly process so as of right now I'm brainstorming some possible color schemes for my dwarves. If anyone has any cool color ideas, painting techniques, dwarves the want to sell or trade, or any advice you think may be helpful let me know. I'll post a list of miniatures I'm looking for in the very near future, so hit me up with anything at all that you think I may want to know. --Thanks!

So, with some help from Cutthroatcure I managed to give an ork a dwarven arm! I was impressed with myself for my first time painting a mini, and was astonished at how simple some of the techniques are. *generally* The ork was primed black and we started with a dwarven flesh base coat. Then was my lesson on washes. We used badab black for our first wash, which gave it a nice shade which we highlighted with some dwarf flesh and elf flesh. We then did another wash using either ogryn flesh or devlan mud... I can't seem to remember . Then we highlighted with some elf flesh and bleached bone. Did another wash with one of the two washes that I mentioned a moment ago and did some more highlighting. That was all I did that night as it was a learning process and I didn't want to overwhelm myself, however I have to say it did turn out pretty darn good. I'm going to attribute that to my teacher, however I feel like I'm starting to get the hang of it and it was definitely a lot of fun. The entire process took about an hour and a half for that single arm, most of that time was spent staring at it, analyzing which areas were highlighted, which areas were dark, and rethinking the techniques we used along the way. I'm planning on making my first dwarf order tonight and am very excited to get started on my stout little army!

Good news! After much deliberation and research, a good bit of wheeling and dealing, and a lot of help from Cutthroatcure, I officially ordered my first batch of dwarves. If I didn't mention it before, this is my FIRST army, so as you can imagine, I'm very excited and probably even more anxious about this process. The dwarves I currently have coming are as follows: a total of 8 GW warriors, 24 NOS warriors, BSB Thane, both a cannon and organ gun, both with crew, and 12 quarrelers. I still have some more miniatures yet to order to complete my 1500 point army, but I am confident that these units will keep me pretty busy for the time being. One problem I am having at the moment, though I have some ideas, is a color scheme for my army. So, if anyone has any suggestions or comments, feel free to throw them at me! --MalkierGaidin

Its been awhile since my last post, but I've finally got good reason to post again. As I said earlier I'm just starting out with this, so naturally it took me FOREVER to paint my first model. I decided to go with a semi bright green/ gold color scheme. I had no idea there were so many steps in achieving one color. Again, thanks to Cutthroatcure, I finally finished this sucker tonight. About 5 total hours of work later, a lot of frustration, deliberation, and consideration, I was (surprisingly) proud of my work. I'll post pictures soon, probably after I get a few more done... I realize these kinds of things aren't very interesting without them.
