Hi everyone, first post here. I started off 40k playing Chaos - as I got more advanced, I switched my army to Death Guard. A year ago I tried a Witch Hunters army that eventually turned into Imperial Guard, but they never really got off the ground. I think I want to go back to Chaos now, and I've been toying around with some army lists. This is a first draft of one idea I had. I'm going to start with 400 points then go to 1000 eventually. Basically I want to get a lot of marines on the table but still have some different stuff.

The failure of my Death Guard was their lack of fire support. Basically, the army plays like a wall of death. It's slow and gets shot up on the way, but once it hits the enemies then lots of stuff dies. These lists are a bit different, although I may want to add more Rhinos/Raptors to make the army more mobile, and thus different from my Death Guard. No vehicles in this one, I figure you have to go all or nothing in a list like this. With one Rhino, it'll be dead on turn one.

-i would drop the havocs in the 1000 and make two ml teams w/infiltrate or two hb's with infiltarte(6 strong of course)

-makelc squad 6 strong

 

-drop the hq and havocs in the patrol to make two hb squads w/infiltrate and add one to the close combat squad

with all infantry some infiltrating units are key to getting good fire lanes

Thanks for the advice. This is just a list I've drawn up so far, I don't have much experience playing with Undivided except when I first started. I have some spare Berzerkers so I might toss those in, and I might want some Rhinos for mobility. My only problem with the Rhinos is that I usually play on a board that has a lot of terrain, so their usefulness might be limited. Also got a Dreadnought from my DG army that's seen better days, so I might strip it and repaint. I think I want to go for a balanced approach that is mobile, and has strong assault and ranged components.

hi, your list looks good but i have a few suggestions to hopfully make it better.

chaos lieutenant (115pts)
termie armor, MoU, D-resilience, 2lc's

2 obliterators (140pts)

csm 1 (195pts)
7+AC, 2 pg's, bolters,[ac has teleport homer, pw and combi-bolter] infiltrate

csm 2 (174pts)
7+AC,ccw/bp's,[ac has pf, bp, d-visage] infiltrate

csm 3 (90pts)
5, lascannon

havocs 1 (130pts)
6, 2 ml's, 4 bolters

havocs 2 (153pts)
6, 3 hb's, 3 bolters infiltrate

your 1000pts can easily expanded to 1500pts with some rhinos, zerkers, and a dread also consider move through cover for your troops if you play a heavy terrianed table.


for your 400pt list i would re-wrok those numbers, as in ab that comes 387 if no MoU is added to any squads, second consider dropping the AC wiielding pfist in favor of 2 more bodies, and attaching the hq to that squad.
