Well, I picked up my copy of the v3 rules bundle and while perusing the forces book I started wondering about the Russians. I'm sure red bear has far better lists than the forces book, but I made one all the same.
Battalion HQ w. AT platoon and Sapper platoon - 160
Strelkovy Company w. 3 platoons, kommissar team - 365
Strelkovy Company w. 3 platoons, kommissar team - 365
Flamethrower Platoon w. 2 sections - 180
Guards Heavy Assault Gun Company w. 3 su-152 & escorts - 265
Artillery Battalion w. 4 122mm guns & observer rifle team/stalinets - 160
Total - 1495 points
Thoughts on my first soviet list?

Welcome to the Red Horde!
My biggest worry with this list would be an inability to deal with lots of medium tanks or a list centered around Panthers. The SU-152's firing 3 shots a turn just aren't going to put out enough fire against 10 or so panzers and with only FA7 would probably get blown to bits a little too easily. This goes doubly for having to take on even a smallish platoon (e.g. three) of Panthers.
If nothing else I'd consider dropping a platoon or two of Strelk from one of your companies in order to upgrade your heavy assault guns to ISU-122's, or even better, IS-2's (few things are as sweet as being completely immune to frontal fire from Panzer IV's and StuG's at long range). I wouldn't worry about getting escorts for either heavy assault guns or IS-2's, while the extra die in assault is nice a 23 stand unit of strelk (+attached pioneers!) should be able to bring the pain quite nicely if you have to make an assault.
Other suggestions...
Maybe drop one of the flame thrower sections as you'll be defending against everything but other infantry. You could spend the points on adding a Zis-3 76mm tank destruction company to give you a little more ranged AT/stopping power against tanks in Defensive Fire.
Ideally some sort of AAA wouldn't be a bad idea either

The lack of ranged AT was definitely one of my concerns making this. Only reason I threw the su152's in was because I think they're awesome tanks. That said, I can see the wisdom in improving them to more powerful tanks.
Battalion HQ w. AT platoon and Sapper platoon - 160
Strelkovy Company w. 3 platoons, kommissar team - 365
Strelkovy Company w. 2 platoons, kommissar team - 255
Flamethrower Platoon w. 1 section - 90
Artillery Battalion w. 4 122mm guns & observer rifle team/stalinets - 160
Tank Destruction Company w. 4 76mm ZIS-3 AT Guns - 90
Total - 1120 points
I'm not sure what to add tank wise to make 1500 points. I'm loathe to drop anymore infantry, as the whole reason I decided to make a Soviet army was to have an infantry horde, so I want at least one platoon to be max size. I have enough points to add in 5 Su85m's as well as trucks and an AT rifle team to the tank destruction company, but I'm not sure how effective it would be. As far as the anti-air goes, it doesn't look like the Soviets have any in the book

Looking at Red Bear it looks likes you could add in a trio of ISU-122's just fine with those spare points you have . By the way, if you're curious as to what RB's army lists are like, I highly recommend www.easyarmy.com. It's $2 to unlock the book and it's one of the best FoW army builders around.

I like this list alot, nothing scares me more than the horde of infantry which is so insanely difficult to kill in large numbers, seeing that I myself run a Medium armored company.
Although I have to agree with some of the posts I read above, I think you need a little bit more Anti-tank, the problem with this list is that it can slow and speed bump an armored company, but it isn't going to do alot of damage. Look into AT guns, you can field whole armies of those haha.
