Hey there,

so I just received a system message that a certain "Inquisitor Ehrenstein" has listed me on his profile as a) knowing me personally and b) being a friend of mine.

Considering that this idiot is a complete nutbag and annoying griefer and troll and that he was banned for life for harassment from the Lexicanum (and a whole bunch of other pages) after insulting me I certainly do not want to be listed either of the above.

So what to do against that, obviously he is trying to get to other people by pretending to be "friends" with me. Who to contact? And why on earth is there no request/ check if somebody actually does know somebody else before people can put that on their profile?

Best regards

All it really does is let them find threads you start easier. I wouldn't mind if it were a request and confirm thing though.

So now we have somebody who has a history of harassing me obviously stalking me on DakkaDakka. Great. Plus the insult and blatant lie of being a real life acquaintance. I am pretty sure at least that point should be removed. Otherwise it's just a question of time until this weirdo starts impersonating people I actually do know or claiming whatever associations.

Well, the "Known users" just means that they know you from outside Dakka. Since he knows you from Lexicanum, that would qualify... sorta.

Don't worry about it. Dakka's friend feature hasn't really gotten any functionality, so no one uses it much.

And, those that do use it realize there's no confirmation. So, it doesn't matter who friends you, it matters who you friend.

There's also them showing up easier in the online users section. I guess it is actually more of a stalk button at the moment, hadn't looked at it that way.

Absolutely not. It says expressively in "REAL LIFE".

Inquisitor Ehrenstein knows the following users in real life:

Betcha I'd have to make some things pretty clear if I ever meet this person in RL about what I think about his behaviour. More healthy for some people to bask in the supposed anonymity of the web.
