For example, the V3 Panzergrenadier command teams can be upgraded to Panzerknacker or Panzerfaust teams. Do you pick one and glue it down and just tell your opponents what is really there? I was thinking of magnetizing the base of the one figure which can be swapped out, but this would leave a small gap ... probably acceptable ... on the base.

Wow, that would be quite impressive if you do it. I wouldn't have any problem whatsoever with any solution to this, I don't even mind as most people know German Command Stands will have Knackers or Fausts.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

I've come across some loose fausts...can't remember which set it came out of...where I have just placed one on the bases that need them.

As I have started to get the few odds and ends troopers I've started making "correct" command stands.

Actually, no it would not, if You glue a small piece of metal on the base and make sure that all options You will be using have the same size of base (by smoothing it around). And if You use the urban rubble bases with slots, then it is even simplier.

Looking to trade away 15mm Forged in Battle Pumas (still in the box).
