Your probably best to just jump a train into Glasgow for your wargaming needs. Admitedly this may be a bit of a bother, but I don't really know that much about local clubs out side of the city area to give advice on where you are. Anyhow I'll refer you to
this thread for info. Quite a few guys at G3 Gamers come from outside Glasgow for games (which really shows the desparity of clubs outwith the city), like Dumbarton.... ^^
The G3 Gamers club meets up every Tuesday from 6 till 10 at the Glasow Woodside Hall on Clarendon Street (you get a train to Queen Street Station then take the underground to
St George's Cross). We have a few ex
GW staffers and tournement holders around who are pretty amicable enough to show you the ropes (though the rest of us are just passible). There's no rules on what models you use for your army, as long as they are in fact minis and not washing up liquid bottles, though most guys try and keep to
WYSIWYG. Admitance is £2.50 a night, £2 for members (you can pay a £5 fee for a year, this also nets you a 10% discount at a number of independant miniature stockists in the Glasgow area for all purchases over £10-or translates as something like a 20% discount on any
GW products seeing as the
FLGS typically sell them at cheaper prices anyway). We run campaigns regularry, though what gaming system their for varies based on the popularity at the time (ie right now we're running and In the Emperor's Name-
40k skirmish game similar to Necromunda, really fun and popular around here- one right now and have just finished Bloodbowl and Mordheim ones).
40k wise we have at least a dozen players. We're not complete marine spam here, with a nice variety of Guard, Daemons, Eldar, Orks (skinhead orks), Chaos and Witch Hunters (off the top of my head), with at least two players, usually four, playing each of those. Not to droll on, but like most clubs we don't exclusively run
GW games, though we do have gamers who play everyone of them, but also have a large Warmachine/Hordes player base, Malifaux, Infinity, Uncharted Seas, D&D (though they seem to have gone a little barbarian on one another of late), Wierd West and Historical games, off the top of my head. Nightly attendance is typically in the 30s, and we've got plenty of tables for more. =D
