Ok a bit of a disclaimer, I actually do not own a copy of SAGA, I just watched people play it So I do not have a good graps on the rules

Anyways from a good majority of the community, SAGA the Dark Age skirmish game is a very solid and fun ruleset....for Dark Age gaming obviously. I'm a bit curious to know whether it would also be a good system for other Dark Age/Medieval (or heck even Ancient) armies such as those of Byzantium, Crusades, maybe even extending to Asia if you came up with the alterations for it

It would work well for most eras's, as long as the battle is skirmish scale. (60 men) I'm actually working on adding some Skraelings to keep things fresh.

There's already a Samurai fan-expansion of it.

The game doesn't differentiate much between equipment, what makes an army different is the battle-board. So instead of needing to make up and "balance" an army list, you just make up 12 special actions. The special actions are usually fairly subtle, so it shouldn't be too hard to think them up. (or you could even take one's from the existing factions)

Four scholars at Oxford were making their way down the street, and happened to see a group of ladies of the evening. “What’s this?” said the first. “A jam of tarts?” “Nay,” said the second, “an essay of Trollope’s.” “Rather, a flourish of strumpets,” advanced the third. “No, gentlemen,” concluded the last. “Here we have an anthology of pros.”
