Just a little less than 2 years ago my wife was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. She spent 9 1/2 weeks in the hospital once diagnosed, and another 8 weeks over the next six month. I had started painting these for her before she got sick, and she kept them with her in the hospital to remind her of her dorky old husband when I couldn't always be there with her. Figured I would share them as I just picked up the fourth and have it just about done. There are some scrapes here and there from them being heavy metal minitures and makeing numerous trips back and forth to the hospital. As a side not my wife got a adult stem cell tranplant last Jan and is getting better everyday.

Echindox, hedgehog warrior. He was the first released;

Platypod, platypus sorcerer. The second in the series.

Frumitty, lemur cleric. The third in the series.

Last but not least, Shoatima, the otter ranger.

I'm glad to hear your wife is getting better. And we're not dorks, we just never learned how to stop playing with toy soldiers. Nice paint job, I especially like the third one.

Thanks guys. She is doing very well at the moment. Her cancer is in remission and if she goes two years from the transplant with no cancer it's considered cured. So as of jan 5 2013 we are hopefully in the clear. As for the mini I just can't wait until they come out with the legions nemesis, the greedy fatty dragon and his chodling minions.

Great to hear your minis helped cure cancer (adding that to my list of why war-games are worthwhile)! I really like your paint jobs, and I'd especially like a tutorial on the cloth you do.

I guarantee you that I'm not really as smart as the test says:

Johnny-Crass: I actually saw the first one at my local game shop when it came out and knew she would love it. Since then i've just waited for each one to be released. I was suprised when I picked up shoatima last week they still had one or two of each of the others on the shelf as well.

killykavekommando: Yeah, all these years scientists have been looking for a cure and they never would have guessed it was just really cute, anthropohorphic pewter miniatures. Thanks for the commpliment on the cloth. I would give you a tutorial but really all I did was about three layers of color, lightly dry brushed. With platypod I think I started with regal blue, then enchanted blue, and a very light drybrush of ice blue. For frummity I started with liche purple and then did two layers of succesive mixes of liche purple and whatever the lighter purple is, I can't remember the name. Most of the way the cloth looks is due to the sculpting. They have a really good rough feel that looks great when painted.

Oh and the other thing I forgot to mention is that all the profits from the sales of these miniatures go to support childs play, an charity by gamers to help provide games for kids in hospitals.
