I have experimented with foliage on a sherman. It didn't turn out exactly as I wanted it to look. The lichen is a bit too green to start with...
Feel free to comment but please consider this is only the third model I paint in 15mm-scale ever. Not the last though!
Here's the pics anyway!

This is Woodland Scenics lichen? I was thinking about something similar but with using the Seafoam sprigs (but that is a distant future project).

Are you referring to a general term or a brand? The lichen comes from a model railway-shop. Dont remember the brand, I keep it in a plastic bag... I overbushed it with brown paint, trying to simulate branches and twigs. With seafoam, do you mean some kind of sponge?
Don't you think clump foliage should work too?

I was referring to brand, since I've been looking into WS products recently. Stil making my mind up and not rushing anywhere
No, not a sponge. I was referring to this technique, which appears to be rather simple and fast

The products - sprigs and tri-color camo leaves are being sold on their website

@Cain:
Scheisse! I checked the links, it looks awsome...
But, what is that seafoam made of? Is it a natural product or is it artificial?

Be careful covering hatches and blocking vision blocks.
If your driver can't see because of the branches you put on the front slope, or if the TC or loader can't open their hatch, it is a bad thing.

Yeah, and rather simple. But for myself I decided to paint and base 10 halftracks before venturing into camo, or I might get overexcited and sidetricked with it

That looks pretty good, but lichen isn't great for wargaming models, as it's not very durable, and over time it tends to dry out and deteriorate. It's also true that any foliage would be placed so as not to obscure the periscopes and weapons. This kind of foliage wasn't very common on US tanks in NW Europe, incidentally.
