Greetings Everyone!
I am starting an escalation league for my local gaming group and I was hoping to get some input and assistance with the rules and setup. I'm not sure if this is best forum for it so if there is a place that would be better suited then please let me know!
The purpose of this league is to get the gaming group on the right path to learning the rules better, their codex's, what units they prefer, and getting in consistent games with a group of equally skilled (or at least tenured) players. It is for Warhammer 40k and I want to set it up to encourage diversity and building a core set of hobby skills. So here are the rules so far, please provide any input and suggestions!
Requirements: 3 color minimum on all models, WYSIWYG required, conversions and customizations are encouraged but model must hold similar dimensions to the base model.
Start Up: When we start the league all players will have 1 month to get a 500 Point List constructed and painted. After that we will play games for points towards our ranking. Every month we will increase the point value by 250 Points with the ultimate goal of 2000 Points.
Goals: To provide a group of new players the motivation to continuously improve and expand on their army while giving them challenging matches of equally skilled players.
Work In Progress Stuff:
I want to include a 'composition' score, this will be added to the points they earn from games. I know a lot of people are against this and please understand that as I am a 'zero-comp' type of player as well the focus is to get these players learning new units, trying out odd combinations and most importantly thinking for themselves instead of net-listing. The outcome will hopefully be a group of competent and competitive players who can make their own decisions instead of being told how they have to build their list.
I am working on the scoring as well. I want something that will encourage player to play a lot of games but not overly reward the player who plays the most games. I want to strike a balance from encouraging to play, making every game count, but not invalidate someone just because they can't play a game every day.
So Please! I need feedback and suggestions on what I can do to further push this goal.

My current composition thoughts:
I was thinking of starting every game with 2 Composition points. The player looses one point for every requirement they do not meet to a maximum points of 2 and a minimum of 0 (can't go negative).
1) Player does not have more than two of the same troop selections or any duplicate selections from any other section.
2) Player's troop selection always outnumbers the non-troop selection (for example 2 Troops and 1 of each non-troop or 4 troops and 3 of each non-troops).
My current scoring thoughts:
I was thinking of giving points based on the results.
3 Points for a Win
1 Points for a Tie (each player)
0 For a Loss

Please let me know what you all think.
