Staying on target.....

So I have settled on my Angmar 250 but I also have my moria to think of and I was thinking along the lines of something cheap and foul

Goblin Captain
5 Goblins w/ Shield
5 Goblins w/ Spear

Goblin Captain
5 Goblins w/ Shield
4 Goblins w/ Spear

Goblin Captain w/ Bow
9 Goblins w/ Bows

Total - 250pts, Count - 31, BP - 16, Bow Count - 10

Thoughts on this?

Bow count 9, remember the captain's bow doesn't count towards the limit

Thoughts? That is a hell of a lot of guys!!!

Improvements? If you going for greentide (to steal a phrase from 40k) there isn't much you can improve on. Roughly 50/50 split on shields and spears and nearly max bows (could add another but ork bows aren't the best things ) is all you need in that sort of list.

Only problem is its a little boring (no offence ) there is no flavour in there

Ah yes, forgot that..........again

Yep that was what I was going for max numbers, not a lot else. No offense taken mate, it isn't meant to be anything but a tide of gribblies also there are 6 might points in this list, not many armies can do that at 250 and still have an actual force

6 might is impressive!

Fight value 2/3 isn't

Well you could get 6 might points with boromir w/shield and a warband of 7 GotFC 250 points but hardly competitive (or a force)

Yes that is very much the downside but sheer weight of numbers FTW! It's what I'm relying on

Interesting you say that, my friend Robbie from the battle reports wants me to pretty much play that and then I can watch his bowmen dance round the field as they make said peeps into pincushions

Shaman. At 250, always take a Shaman (one of my rules).

You may have a lot of guys, but they're squishy and don't have high strength. You need to keep them alive as long as possible.

I've had games where the shaman saves every wound. They're worth it.

Well that would be a Warpriest for me thou, but yes. I can see the worth of such a thing in so smal games

I would like to hear your counter when you think of one trondheim, it give something to think about

Aye maybe it would be worth adding a shaman, usually I wouldn't take one in 250 because of lack of numbers but in theory I should save 5 goblins which is worth the points, however I do lose two goblins and a might point. It's a close call but on theory if I run on averages that means I'm up 10pts (25 for rage vs 2x5 + 5(might)). I think I shall try both and see which I prefer, I'd still have 5 might to play with cheers for the thought Dr.What

As for might points, I prefer to have a captain if I'm taking a cave troll. The reason is the wonder of a Heroic Combat with a cave troll.

The elves always cry when I do that...

Well in such smal games I would definitly make sure to include halebers for my captains. And I also bring my men with Black Dragon upgrade, because figth/courgae 4 is awesom combined with Warpriest. I may have fewer numbers than you, but I atill gonna chopp you to bitzs

@Dr.What - haha yeh I know, probably one of the best combos in the game almost all because it makes elves cry

@Trondheim - wouldn't that be a little pointless considering goblins are fight 2 anyway? And you'd have even less people?

no offense meant there trondheim, rereading that sounds a little harsh!

You can neve rhave enough chopping power, and beside the Black dragon upgrade is 24 points for 12 guys, so yea it may be overkill but at least I would earn those points back. And I know your preference for ghosts. But seriosly, I never play so smal games so I dont know what to put in a game of that scale. Maybe some Khandish warriros

I guess that's only 3 fellas so not too bad

You should try it, literally every guy matters! They make some intense and action packed battles where even the most basic of troop can make their name with some form of amazing heroic, it's my favourite point level along with playing sieges

Well here is what I would run in a 250 point game.

Warband 1

10 Easterling warriors with Easterling Captain with bow
shields

Warband 2

9 Khandish warriors Easterling Captain
5 bows

total of 249 points. Now how good a list this one is I have no idea about but it offers alot of punching power. I have enough figthing power to cut down most things. Althou i really would like to squece in a Dragon Knigth but that would give alot less men on the field.

I have no idea how these guys play but from what I can tell it's a healthy mix of heavy armour and 2h with a sprinkling of bows. Also there's numbers there which is essential to this points level give it a whirl!

Yes, its lots of heavy armour and standard armed Easterlings, As for the Khandish warriors well they hit like a ton of bricks if you match them up rigth, preferably I would bring mounted warriors of Khand but they are too expensive. So therefor I use the footsluggers. And I will do that
