I grabbed aJanissaire tonight, and when I unpacked it, I found a rather odd bit. I can't find where it would attach, and it's not attached in the shot on the clam pack. Anyone have any idea what this is? It's the little bit on the left.

It definitely looks like a sword in a scabbard. It's just odd as it has two small holes in it that look like they plug into somewhere, but I can't find where.

It's the CC weapon stated in the profile. When the game started and you can see that in any old model, CB made sure the minis reflected all the weapons and equipment stated in that option profile. That's why you locate in amy mini sculpt the standard pistol and knife all troops come equipped with, you can see the medikit or hacking device in any old doctor/hacker miniature and miniatures with a CCW or a ranged weapon not represented in the miniature. came with the bit representing that weapon so that the player can decide what to do with it. Realize many old blisters where the mini has no weapon represented used to come with the corresponding spare weapon.

Nowadays, for obvious reasons, regarding a compulsory necessity to reduce production costs, that practice is rarely seen in the new minis.

But it actually has its combat knife as well. It seems a bit redundant. Good to solve this though.

Also explains why my Ghulam doctor came with a rifle, and nowhere to attach it.

It's better to not do this, honestly. It was downright confusing when I opened it, se the sword, and couldn't figure out how to attach it. Just represent the main weapon, and let that be the guide as to what secondary weapons the dude has.

Yeah, I got one of those with my Ragiks. I really didn't feel like shoehorning it onto the HMG guy just so it can break off later.

My buddy had the same thing. I put it on his back.

Meh. I'm not complaining. If I get something that can't see where it goes on the model (even from the picture), I can actually start to build up my Infinity bitz box (other than by just having to make copies).

To use a meme: Corvus Belli, Y U no do weapons conversion packs?

I wish they would. I think it would sell too. I don't think it would take away sales from a figure that later comes out with that weapon you just converted.

Luckily my venture into Necromunda with Infinity minis has left me with a fair amount of bits in my Infinity bits box!

If you don't mind a bit of cutting, plenty of third party companies make modern weapons that would fit right in in Infinity.

3rd party stuff doesn't have quite the same effect. As each faction has its own weapon designs, it's a useful way to keep things integrated, particularly if you want to be able to use models from other factions and have them blend in better.

But the weapon designs are heavily based on current model weapons. Haqqislam use Ak-47's, HMGs are based on many MGs currently in use like the M249, submachine guns look a lot like MP5's, D.E.P.s are L.A.W.s, etc.

Aside from specialised weapons like spitfires and chain rifles, a lot of the weapons are very modern (as in, like weapons we see today). Some are harder, like Yu Jing and PanO. But for some, it's quite easy.

If you want a model from say, Ariadna to fit in with Haqqislam, grabbing a few AK-47's from a 3rd party company, and throw one on the Ariadna model you have. It now has a Haqqislam rifle.

Yeah, it's a sword. I wondered about that myself for ages until I bought the Saladin figure and he had a sword and scabbard that looked remarkably like the AP-Rifle Janissary bit.

Based on, yes. And to casual observation, some are reasonably similar (the Yu Jing Multi Rifle could be quite well subbed by the FN F2000), but many are not.

To take your first example, the Haqqislam rifle and the AK-47 share almost nothing that they don't also have in common with many other non-bullpup rifle designs. The Haqqislam weapon... well, you wouldn't find a gun like that in real life. In fact, you couldn't - it has some really quite glaring design flaws that would keep it relegated to the realm of fiction.

I wouldn't want to sub-in AK47s. While I could believe that the AK-47 might still be in use in another 175 years, the Haqqislam rifle is not the AK47 any more than it's the G36 or the XM23.
