Every time I browse the recent threads on Dakka, there is at least one "Why the X hate" thread going on. So.. why do you people care about hate so much? Why the hate hate? Why don't you just let them hate whatever they want to hate and write about something you like instead?

And you know what's funny? "feth" is actually censored on a forum about a dystopia where the nice guys are the ones who kill only millions of innocents, not billions. |

I just don't see where people get the energy to hate things as much as they do. With the amount of time I get at home when I'm not at work... if I spent that time brooding over how I think a model company decided to personally gak in my cereal, I'd be one miserable person.

In the defense of the "hate" group...
It goes with every hobby. I hate to be cliche, but the quote "the more you hate, the more you love" sums it up quite nicely.
Think about sports fans and how much they rage when their team loses or they feel like there are shenanigans going on in a game. It results in bar fights, riots, and such. Or movie fans who feel like some movies are desecration of the originals, etc. In other geekdoms, "raeg" is quite common in M:tG forums, slashfic sites
You wouldn't care if a stranger makes some questionable decisions in her life, but you would be angry/concerned/*insert appropriate strong emotion here* if say, it was your sister or close friend who made those decisions. And I think that maybe comparing the hobby with a person is a hyperbole, but say compare it to any other "serious" hobby, like sports. It is a part of our lives, and the degree of importance may vary from person to person. I'm not saying those who don't rage love the hobby less. Point is, the more passionate you are about a certain aspect of life, the more likely you are to be affected when it heads toward a direction you don't like.
