The software that controls that display is confused. Did she reinstall the laptop specific software that came with the laptop? Generally there is a program that helps control those kind of functions.

Someone that is a friend of hers built the computer for her, how can she fix the Prob.?

Ask her friend who built it for her to take a look at it?

Re-download the software from the equipment manufacturer's website?
