A cracking read and welcome to the SBG!!

When I started reading I thought 'God no he's put witch king up front, Boromir is gonna smear him all over the battle field!' but they never met so all is good Shame you learnt the hardway about the Boromir, numbers work to his advantage and he will just kill orc after orc after orc!

But you did well, broke his flank, then his force and moped up! Well done

Interesting to see someone who played WOTR first too and then went to SBG. I think you'll agree it's a little more subtle tactics wise and adds a lot more depth

I hope so, I intend to play both systems so need to play more SBG to get me up to speed with the rules :-)

A very close game, I think some more captains would help the gondorians a lot.

Thanks for the advice, we are having a re-match this weekend! Any tips? Anyone?

I'd swap normal archers for trackers.
Only feed Boromir one orc at a time, sure it's an auto loss in all but the rarest of cases but it's better than losing three orcs in a turn!
Have plenty of might points (6 minimum), may want to look into a few special characters (don't know Mordor, sorry).
Have a Banner.
I would try and keep numbers at around 30-40 in 500pts if your playing that again, higher if possible.
