For my Ariadna, I think I will try to do something looking like this
For my SAS, I tried this but the grey came out too white and the bluegrey too blue =(
But still looks good to my standards imo Looks more like winter fatigues than Urban but hey =P
Mass Effect has easily been one of my biggest influences. It isn't very obvious by what I've painted, except for maybe one thing, but I haven't officially posted that yet.
I don't really look to very many other things for inspiration, I look at the colors themselves, and what I want from the army. For my Haqqislam, I wanted the tan, because I like the desert sort of feel to them (even though mine are based in a snowy, urban environment... tan is universal damnit!), and I just went with the blue to be different. It makes them recognizable but unique.
As for my Ariadna, sort of the same thing. I base my things off of color choice. Red was going to be my primary color... it's almost the theme of the army. It's what is going to pull the group together. You'll recognize them by that common theme. The other common themes I followed were the ways I did the leathers, and the splotchy camo. They camo isn't very exciting, but for some reason I think it works, so I've stuck with it. The leathers I gave a hint of red by starting with Scorched Brown, highlighting with Dark Flesh, washing in Baal Red, then re-highlighting in Dark Flesh again. It gives you a nice, rich, reddish leather that I think looks great and meshes well with the rest of the Red.
So I guess you could say color is my primary influence. I like to have a theme that meshes across the entire army, while still allowing personality among the units.
The other major influence is Ghost in the Shell, which taught me that clean, futuristic look. I love the style of it, and I'm glad the remotes and things are so heavily influenced by it.

For myself, I'm doing a nice little ALEPH force and using Splinter Cell's "Third Echelon" as the inspiration.
I need to get another light source for photos, I think, as the black-grey I made for the body armor tends to blend too well with the glossier black I used for the bodysuit, hood, and hands.
With Yu Jing I went with almost on the box because I already really loved it. Orange is one of my fav colors. I've done them with mostly grey though to show they are urban fighters.
For my Shasvastii I wanted a "It Came From The Swamp!" feel. Less anime and more Creature from the Black Lagoon. Natural tones seemed the right way to go.
When I finally do a Nomad group it's going to be Tron inspired.
I only have one model right now, so nothing has really been established, but I think that Halo (videogame series) is/will be my main inspiration. It doesn't take a lot to see similarities between the Covenant and the Combined Army.
Speaking of Halo, the new Master Chief would look really cool as an Infinity model.

When I saw the back of this mini, I instantly thinked of Master Chief =P
I think with a little greenstuff, it should be fairly easy to change the helmet

It could probably pass for a Spartan even without changing the helmet. I'm assuming that we'll see a lot more new armour variations in the multiplayer, and I know for a fact that some of the helmets feature more narrow visors. It's not unlikely that some helmet will have two separate lenses instead of a visor (has been done before). But I agree that Haqq definitely has some stuff that looks very Halo.
EDIT: The one thing that I sort of don't like about the Haqqs is their arsenal. Not a huge fan of the over-sized "AK's". It can look alright on Ariadna, but it clashes with power armour. I'm just thinking about how freaking cool it would look if someone were to manufacture the new Halo-weapons in 28mm scale. The new battle rifle makes me feel good...

One of my inspirations was Cerberus from Mass Effect. But I sort of 'inverted' it making yellow the main colour with light grey/off white for accents and clothing.
I need to think of something to paint my guys, initially I was just planning on going the default colours but now I realize how dull that might be o.o specially looking at how each faction has sub factions that could turn into a patchwork quilt
My Aleph are my only force that has a movie or other inspiration - it uses a Tron scheme that some may see as clichéd - but I had been planning the scheme after first seeing the finished Tron: Legacy trailer (not the several years of teaser trailers).
My Asuras are Sirens (game grid armourers), the devas are regular programs, Achilles is done as Clu2.0 (gave him a helmet as it means I don't have to look at his stupid Fabio head), Patroclus as Rinzler (using Sr Massacre as the pose was very Rinzler - with a slight helmet mod), and the myrmidons are Clu's "black guards". I'm also working on a "game grid" table for something different.
My yu-jing use the default "Red, white and black" because it is a striking combination and because you couldn't pay me enough to use yellow on anything.
I just use a my go-to blue pallette for my PanO.
Three shades of blue and white. It's cohesive, easy and simple.
I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...
... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.
I was originally going to reproduce the ALEPH scheme from the website, substituting shades of geren for purple. In the end, however, I decided that the white was way more trouble than it was worth. I switched over to shades of grey, and I've been happy ever since. My ALEPH wear grey body suits and have dark green highlights - usually on their more heavily armorer parts - and neon green eyes and glowy bits. I use silver metallics on the guns. My ALEPH also has somewhat healthier complexions than CB's ALEPH. As a nod to their artificial bodies, I've given them all ridiculous-colored hair, which helps the models pop.
Anyone looking for inspiration should 100% buy Deus Ex: Human Revolution and play it. It's basically Infinity as an amazing FPS, hacking, sniping, TO camo, it's got it all. Here is a taster:
Now crank up the sound and grab the Kleenex!

But then everyone's paint schemes will be Black and Amber.
With an Amber highlight.
...
I kid. It's definitely a good feel of how Infinity sort of feels. Though I think there is also think we all find heavy influence from Ghost in the Shell, and Stand Alone Complex is great for seeing all the weird and different things that are out there.

Yeah I totally dig the halo look and am trying to get miniatures that match that aesthetic. I like that future hard military scifi feel best. Hope my pano will evoke a halo feel to them when I finally finish.
