me and my friend are playing a 1000pts each 2v2 tournament locally and we have decided to try and use a a combination of imhotek/cryptek's night fighting and the tau blacksun filter/marker lights.
-NECRON army list:
-imotekh

-harbinger of destruction
solar pulse

- triarch stalker x 3

10 warriors x 2

-TAU army list:
-shas o:
burst cannon/missile pod
blacksun filter
drone controller
2 marker drones
target lock

-2 bodygaurds:
burst cannon/missile pod
blacksun filter
drone controller
2 marker drones
target lock

-12 fire warriors: x2
team leader
blacksun filter/marker drone

-10 fire warriors:
team leader
blacksun filter/marker drone

My Tau ally is fairly inexperienced and wasn't sure what the best way to spam blacksun/markerlights is so if there are any tips to get more marker/blacksun units or just a more effective combination in general. Any criticism of the necron list is welcome as well as i wasn't sure how to best employ the concept. hopefully someone more tactical than me could expand on this strategy

I just played a team tourney with Tau and I built my list to counter Imotehk (he is a local favorite) and worked great. Here is what I took and hopefully it helps.

ELITES (0-2)
3 Shas'ui w/TLMP, Black Sun Filter - 138

HEAVY SUPPORT (0-2)
2 Broadsides w/ASS, TL w/ Black Sun Filter, TL, HWDC w/2 SD - 195

The Twilight Zone

I like the idea, the list is for sure going to be a troll, and may even win a tourney. Could have problems with dark eldar and space puppies.

The necron list looks pretty good. I am no necron player, so I am not sure. Only played against stalkers, and they are a real pain in my .

The tau list needs some work.
Drop the commander to a shas'el with a target array. If you are abusing night fight, you need to abuse range as well. Give him a plasma rifle instead of a burst cannon. Run him solo and switch the target lock to a target array. Hardwire a multi tracker as well. I would drop the marker drones here.

Make the bodyguards into two solo suit squads.Team leader, HW Blacksun filters, plasma+missile, hw multi trackers and target arrays. Drop marker drones.

FW's should be in either minimum squads, or max. I would run 2 squads of 6 with team leaders with blacksuns and markerlights.

If you are going to abuse marker drones, you want to marker mule with a stealth team. I made a thread about this, and I will quote juraigamer's reply on the loadouts
"One is 6 suits with 10 gun drones and 2 markerdrones, plus markerlight and team leader + bonding. Another is 3 suits with 2 marker drones and markerlight. plus lead and bonding. The final is 3 suits with 4 marker drones 1 light and 2 gun drones, more suits and drones as points permit. "

I would run a unit of the second configuration, to keep it cheap. Maybe blacksun the leader.

The list needs broadsides, lots and lots of broadsides. Mark a target, and then railgun it from across the board as the sides sit in safety. Smart missiles also ignore night fighting, so multi trackers are an option.

Keep the stormlord near the gunline of sides and warriors in case the tau get assaulted. Tau die so hard in assault is is not even funny.

HQ
Shas'el: Plasma and missile, target array, hw blacksun filter, hw multi tracker-100

Elite

Stealth teamX3:2 marker drones, team lead w/bonding knife, markerlight, blacksun-163

Crisis teamX1. Plasma, missile, target array, team lead, hw multi track and blacksun-80

Crisis teamX1. Plasma, missile, target array, team lead, hw multi track and blacksun-80

Troop

FwX6. 'ui w/markerlight, blacksun-83

FwX6. 'ui w/markerlight, blacksun-83

Heavy

Broadside teamX2-A.S.S., team lead w/blacksun, multi tracker, target lock, hw drone controller, 1 shield drone, bonding knife-198

Broadside teamX2- A.S.S., team lead w/blacksun, multi tracker, target lock, hw drone controller, 2 shield drones, bonding knife-213

1k on the nose.

That gives him 4 railguns in 4 different directions. He should focus on presicion targets-small elite units, MC's armor. Crowd control is more on you, as he can double tap the warriors in a pinch or use the stealth team burst. He should JSJ in and out with the suits to keep as much distance as possible. Using their acute senses+blacksun means they will not be as dependent on markers going off, having a potential 3' vision range. Opponents are stuck to 2'.

If you can get any assault into your necrons that would be a godsend. I hear wraiths are good, and with night fighting they could advance up the board unharmed. You need a counter charge in case somebody deep strikes or outflanks against you.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

So we have updated both lists for the tournament on saturday with the tau player switching completely to the one above^ and my necron one being the same except 2 triarch stalkers are dropped for:

2x 4 wraiths
1 whip coil

These two units will act as counter assault as i have realized with rail guns as anti vehicle the focus of one triarch is enough. Against the players at my local GW i feel only one whip coil is needed to get most squads down to i1. In a test game with the new lists we won 10+ kill points to 2 against an imperial guard/marine army that just couldn't see anything. The players got so frustrated they ran straight up the board and charged the wraiths around turn 5 they reached us due to terrain and waiting around for the first two turns. There whole armies got the wraiths but we had a free win from night fighting that wouldn't go away and bad luck for the enemies. Have to say i recommend this for anyone with the models involved in a 2v2.
