Greetings and salutations Dakkanauts!

My lil Bro recently purchased The Witcher 2 on Steam, and seeing as how we dip in and out of each others accounts, I thought I'd give it a go and maybe buy it myself. I've read reviews online and most are universally positive, with a good deal of them in the 85-100% mark. However, I have been burned before and seeing as I can't give it a go before I get home, I was wondering of any of you lot out there had played it?

Also please bear in mind that I only just started playing Diablo 3 this morning, so if the Witcher is to tear me away from that it had better be good!

I haven't played it myself, but the reviews say that its pretty good. Ive heard only positive things about it, so I guess you'd be absolutely fine with it.

One of the best RPGs of all time.

It was average on release, with a lot of bugs and such, but CD Projekt Red is an extremely respectable developer for what they've done with it over the past year.

Its quality is unquestionable, and it is an excellent game.

As well, you can play it two different ways. After act 1, you choose which Act 2 to play - both of which are entirely different from one another.

I tried it out briefly and hated the combat...

I have read that the combat is less arbitrary than, say, Skyrim. But tbh I play RPGs for the story and the consequences of choice. Both good and bad.

The novels have slipped by me, never read one of them, but from what I've read the story of the Witcher is cracking.

Just two hours till I finish work now, can't wait!

My wife played Witcher and loved it. She got Witcher 2, but I do not know how far she got into it before the computer messed up on her and she can't play it any more. Due to her........verbage that she directed my way due to the computer going down I take it she liked it better than the original. I only glanced at it every once in a while as she was playing and it seemed like a pretty good game, but I never tried it.

I have the Witcher 2 and I love the game. Though it does slow my computer down noticeably, it is still an amazing game. The graphics are amazing, I think the battle is fine, you just need to get used to it, and I love the magic abilities.

A real RPG with lots of customization options and a splendid story. I would give it 9/10 personally.

I like to imagine the Emperor kills so many Orks that he ends up half buried beneath a pile of corpses, with only his head sticking out. A lone grot stumbles across him, and starts choking him.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.

I played the first witcher and found the combat clunky and nigh on painful, didn't pick up the sequel because of it.

The combat in W2 is almost entirely different to that in W1. More freeform, a bit like Arkham Asylum with swords.

I bought TW1 to see the story before I completed TW2.

I played about 15 minutes and then stopped. It was just too painful.

The games are completely different.
