I was wondering what people thought about outfitting a squad of Termies with Power Swords.

Wanting a more swordy-theme for my homebrew marines I was curious to know how (if at all) practical this idea would be.

I understand that officially (tournaments and the such) it probably would not stand but under more friendly conditions would this be acceptable?
Would this cost additional points or would I simply be able to swap out Power Fists for Swords?

I posted a similar question in General Discussion but was informed that Proposed Rules was the more appropriate place.
So what do you think?

Cheers

I would say just switch them out, or even decrease the cost for it. Sure you strike at initiative, but you lose both AP 2 and +4 strength. But yeah, I would be fine with that.

Anyone in their right mind will let you run LC assault termies as having power swords.

If you're worried about tourneys, just model pretty large, unweildy looking swords that could concievably reduce initiative. That way, if you encounter TFG, you can just count them as power fists

Depending what book you want to come out of this is exactly tourney legal, Space Wolves come not with storm bolter and fist as everyone else... but with storm bolter and "Power weapon." Further they are cheaper than some other chapter's terminators as well.

Chaos Space Marine Termies are a full 10 points less than a regular one, and have a power weapon of choice.
