I thought there used to be a yearly 40k tournament at GenCon. This no longer seems to be the case, or am I missing something? I can't find a single 40k event there and I would have sworn I've always seen armies there.

Thanks.

I can't find anything about any events on the website. Maybe it's just me being too hasty about it, as I haven't been to GenCon for about 5 years and doubt I'll scrounge up enough money/painted models to go there in a month.

I actually have a full body tattoo, but it's of an invisibility cloak, so you can't see it.

Yeah, it looks like to me that they've disappeared. They always seemed popular in the past, but I had never attended one of them.

This year will be my 8th GenCon in the last 10 years. Granted, I only started playing 40k in 2008; however, I have never heard of any major 40k tournament at GenCon.

When GW pulled out the number of Warhammer events dwindled. The number of sanctioned events pretty much disappeared. As Warmahordes grew it gobled a lot of the spotlight up as well; PP has a very dominating presence at GenCon.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

I would have sworn that I played a few games at a GenCon after a major tournament. I could be confusing it with another system or Origins, however.

Thanks all for the replies.

GenCon events are pretty much full up, but you can search the Gencon website. There's a rumour of GW showing up this year, but given the bad blood between GW and Gencon, I haven't bothered to confirm it.

Wait, what? I don't even see any events for 40k (besides one apoc game) even when I search full events. What events am I missing?

I haven't searched at all (I'm going to be too busy running Artemis to be able to commit to anything), I only heard some rumors...which, apparently, are false.

No mention of a tournament, but from today's Forge World Newsletter:

August 16th to 19th will see us travelling to Indianapolis, IA, for GenCon 2012 where we’ll be joining the guys from Games Workshop and the Black Library. Alongside a wide selection of our range, attendees will also be able to buy our 2012 Event Only models: the Skin Wolf and Imperial Enforcer.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to check and see if they have a booth.
