This is my renegade space marine chapter organisation first, i'd like any idea's on what to fill them in with.

Chapter Cults

Pardus: This cult is the largest it's name meaning "The Leopards". They are the most able warriors of the chapter, closely followed by the Magus or the Sorcerors, numbering roughly 225 members led by Bael Zepar, the Great Beast King. They make their base in The Pit the fortress-monastery literally dug into the ground of New Obsidia.

Magus: This cult is second largest, it's name meaning "The Sorcerors". They are the numerous Sub-cults that all practice sorcery in some way or another. They make their base on the highest mountains on New Obsidia. There only are they allowed to practife their dark magicks. The Silver Sorcerors form Sorceror warcoven's and usually are protected by no fewer then 2 guards at any time. They are led by Malphas Leonard, the Daemon King. Numbering 200 members.

Smyth: This cult is third largest, it's name meaning "The Smiths". They make their base also in The Pit. They are the Tech marines, The apothecaries, The chaplains, and every other task not mentioned. Led by Pruflas the Faith King. Numbering 125 members.

Regis Sua: This cult is the smallest by far, it's name meaning "The King's Own" they are the elite from all the other cults numbering only 50 Space marines. they make their base in most holy site on New Obsidia, The Volcano where the first Obsidian King Lucifer Moloch fashioned the Double-headed Axe named The Ire of Hell. They are always led by The Obsidian King into battle.

Obsidian Tears: This cult usually names itself as a seperate chapter the "Obsidian Tears" althougth they still maintain the same coulor scheme, tatics, and very often fight alongside the Knights of Obsidia. The Obsidian Tears number roughly 70 members.

Characters of Note

The Obsidian King- Adramelech: Second of the Obsidian King's he followed as instructed by a vision of the Dead King and led the Knights of Obsidia in open rebellion and led them to the sector where the Dragon Lord's (a chapter with whom contact was lost) resided. Launching a brutal, and bloody campaign, as instructed by his mentor and Gene-Father, Adramelech reclaimed Erwynn's world. The Voice in his head constantly telling him "until death must you bleed". He sets his sights on the rest of the sector.

The Great Beast King- Bael Zepar: King of the Pardus Cult they are form the equivalent two active battle companies. Zepar single-handedly has more acomplishments then any other Great Beast King since the inception of the chapter.

The Daemon King- Malphas Leonard: The Sorcerer King, he is Chief librarian, Keeper of lore, and Master of rituals. Some whisper that he communes with the dark gods themselves and then enacts their will. Though this was never proven, rumours suggest he is the last survivor of the Dragon Lord's Space Marine Chapter.

The Faith King- Pruflas: As the King of Faith, Pruflas administers the chaplains and makes sure all of the battle brothers are faithful to the one true Obsidian Throne. Prone to maniacal rage and violence he once beheaded a brother marine in public execution for accusing him of heresy. Subsequently Pruflas coaxed Naberius Nicor to aid him in spreading the Obsidian Religion of Farnoth.

The Dead King- Lucifer Moloch: First Obsidian King, entombed in the holy dreadnought in M38, following the Knights of Obsidia's, secession from the Imperium of man.

The King of Obsidian Tears- Naberius Nicor: Naberius Nicor and Adramelech are rivals and seem to be something akin to a rock and a hard place. He leads the better part of his Cult the "Obsidian Tears" in lightning raids throughout the New Obsidia sector. Though completely loyal in deed and thought he is considered renegade by the Inquisition. He refuses to aid Adramelech or the Dead King but still will fight alongside his other brothers. He also openly scorns The Knights of Obsidia for Making the Dead king their spiritual father and deity.

Well known Campaigns/Engagements/Sightings

878.M39- Obsidian King Lucifer Moloch announces the sector of Obsidia's intentions to seccede from the Imperium of Man, in doing so Naberius Nicor, who at the time was known as the King of Obsidian Tears (Forgefather equivalent), split his cult from the rest of the chapter and in doing so were forced to a protracted siege defense against the Dead King. Much like the iron cage incident, Naberius managed to stave off the renegades for two weeks, slaughtering roughly 75 marines in the first wave, then the second wave came on with 3x the numbers. Naberius Nicor knew he could not hold out against them and challenged the Dead King himself upon meeting. Lucifer Moloch accepted and led 225 Renegade to the Chalice of the Forge. There was his undoing for Naberius Nicor had rigged the forge to explode and after a titanic battle with Lucifer Moloch he detonated the Chalice of the Forge and killed everyone within and without after he had fled with his understrength Cult the "Obsidian Tears", after days of excavating, the Renegades led by Adramelech found The Dead king. Weeks of standing vigil over his body repairing him, knowing he could not return to the field he was entombed into the Dreadnought armour.

Before voting on anything I would really like to see/read more background info on them. It seems likea very good base idea for a chapter I must say

I renamed all my characters for my chapter several times until i saw that their names fit their positions.
I very much like the idea.
But I personally would like to see a chapter try to redeem itself in the eyes of the Imperium. Or Be Renegades that use chaos powers and don't know they have already been corrupted.

So i'm planning on making models in 40k for each character. But i have to decide which codex i'd rather draw from. Space marines, Blood angels, or Chaos space marines.

Blood Angels all have the red thirst.
so I say Blood Angels. Because the knights of bloods are also a renegade chapter but they are in the blood angels codex. So problem solved

By that same logic you could also use the Vanilla SM and Chaos codex...
Are they Chaos or just renegade?
They appear to have already broken down their organisation so BA may suit them but the Chaos codex may also be a good match to represent them.

They are in the simplest means, two renegade chapters each led by a Dreadnought, The more chaotic of the two being the "Knights of Obsidia" led by Lucifer Moloch, The Dead King who is a Dreadnought. While the more Loyalist chapter "The Obsidian Tears" led by The Dreadnought Naberius Nicor. Though the imperium can't decide whether to classify them as two seperate chapters because they often fight alongside each other, as long at the other leader in not present.

Each one I assume is around 500 and constantly fight each other? Or does one side embrace chaos worship and the other is trying to redeem itself. It makes sense if that is why they don't like each other.
And now the Dreadnought part I really Like (Most likely they are venerables or are the contemptor dreadnoughts?)
Otherwise this sounds really good.

they aren't full fighting strength and the MORE-loyalist part of the chapter is smaller. 200 Space marines followed Naberius Nicor at the beginning only his own cult did, after some joined him directly. The LESS-loyalist part of the chapter numbers around 400 Space marines and they serve the imperium still but worship the Obsidian throne which they do not know is a misinterpretation of Khorne to trick them into horrendous acts of bloody mayhem and slaughter across their sector. The LESS-loyalist part of the chapter is led by Lucifer Moloch. and yes both warlords are Contemptor pattern relic dreadnoughts. both think they are redeeming themselves and will fight alongside each other as long as both factions leader is not present, only one can be there or they break into massive fighting

And the leaders tend not to like each other because Lucifer basically killed Naberius, and the opposite is true when Naberius detonated the Chalice of the Forge. both sides had their own excavating the ruins and gathered the remains of their near lifeless leaders and Put them into Contemptor pattern relic Dreadnoughts

Ah, but it is a chapter nonetheless so it will still try to train new recurits. And I believe it would be better to seperate them not on a single world but on two planets. Like Twin planets, because they would probably kill each other if they were on the same planet.

Okay so they are being manipulated (one part is)
But i think one side would be on the run. (The loyal part)

And the other Less Loyal part was trying to exterminate them. Otherwise it wouldn't make sense for them to work together. Unless they faced a greater threat.
(Plus Fallen Star King is a good name for the less loyal part)

I say you might need to rethink parts of the chapter to make it seem like they hate each other, and talk about the chapter war between itself. That would make sense. Plus no Libys, do not go the way of relic and make Sorcery part of your khornate marines. O.O The loyal part yes they can use libys.

The less-loyal part thinks they are still serving the imperium. and the actual marines under Lucifer Moloch do not hate their brothers of the more-loyal part. It is solely the two Leaders who hate each other minus Adramelech of the Less-loyal side he has infinite hatred for anyone who'd help Naberius Nicor, because he believes it is Naberius' fault that Lucifer Moloch isn't completely alive still. they fight together still because certain warriors will form unsteady pacts to fight towards a common goal "Capturing all of the New Obsidian sector, thus forming an empire" though they want the empire formed in the image of their own leader. Naberius Nicor, or Lucifer Moloch. and on your point the less loyal side does not have any of the Magus cult Adramelech in his Blood rage tried to kill them all, they fled and serve directly under Naberius Nicor. making alittle more sense? i can pm the details if need be.

haha good. now all i need to decide is how one faction would make a new base somewhere. whether it is to capture another planet, or simply build an orbital Fortess, sort of as you said like twin planets.

I'm writing right now, from the viewpoint of a Mercenary Space marine from my chapter who split with three others of the loyalist side.

EXACTLY MY POINT!! read some of my stories like Mortis Clefast. lol. My chapter Formed a seperate Empire because they are out of the Imperium boundaries. Around Erwynns world.
